Vietnam always attaches importance to multifaceted cooperation with Angola and the PMLA Party.

During the visit, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia met with Paulo Pombolo, Secretary General of the ruling People's Liberation Movement of Angola (MPLA); held talks with Manuel Domigos Augusto, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of foreign affairs of the MPLA, and Esteves Carlos Hilário, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of information and communications of the MPLA; and had working sessions with the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Telecommunications and Information Technology of Angola.

At meetings and working sessions with MPLA Party leaders and leaders of Angolan ministries, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the visit aims to promote the traditional solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the Party, State and people of Vietnam and Angola as well as towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.

Informing and introducing to Angolan leaders some of Vietnam's outstanding achievements in economic and social development as one of the 40 largest economies in the world, one of the 20 largest trading countries in the world, with per capita income 17 times higher than before the renovation, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that in terms of foreign affairs, Vietnam continues to consistently implement its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification in international relations; promoting the implementation of the "Vietnamese bamboo" school of foreign affairs and diplomacy, imbued with the Vietnamese national identity of "firm roots, strong trunk, flexible branches".

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam always attaches importance to and defines foreign relations on the party channel, creating a solid political foundation for state relations, and orienting bilateral relations between Vietnam and other countries to develop increasingly stably and sustainably.

At the meeting with MPLA Party General Secretary Paulo Pombolo in the capital Luanda, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia conveyed the greetings of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President To Lam to MPLA Party Chairman and Angolan President João Lourenço.

MPLA Secretary General Paulo Pombolo also shared that MPLA Chairman and President of Angola has directed the need to strengthen relations with friendly parties that have gone through difficulties together and have been loyal to Angola. Among them, the Communist Party of Vietnam is a top priority. Mr. Pombolo also said that MPLA has an economic committee to support the government in carrying out the task of developing the country and expressed his wish that both sides share experiences in this field.

Mr. Paulo Pombolo said Angola is calling for foreign investment to develop the country, hoping that Vietnamese investors with their potential and inherent advantages will pay attention and increase investment in Angola to contribute to promoting Angola's economic development. He affirmed that Angola is very willing to create the best conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Angola.

The MPLA Party leader also expressed his hope that Vietnam, with its advanced technology in the fields of communications, agriculture, mining and construction, could share its experience with Angola in these areas.

Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed: "In its foreign policy, Vietnam always attaches importance to multifaceted cooperation with Angola and the PMLA Party."

Expressing his joy that the two parties have always had a traditional relationship of solidarity, friendship and cooperation since the 1970s; the two parties also regularly exchange delegations at all levels and support each other at multilateral forums, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that Vietnam will never forget and always appreciate the selfless, pure, comradely and brotherly support and assistance that the MPLA Party and the Angolan people have given to the Party and people of Vietnam in the struggle for national liberation and reunification.

Sharing his emotion when Angola named a large avenue in the center of Luanda after President Ho Chi Minh, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that this is a testament to the affection and respect that the Angolan Party and State have for President Ho Chi Minh and the Party, State and People of Vietnam. “We consider this a priceless asset that needs to be preserved, promoted and passed on to future generations.”

With the desire to further consolidate and promote bilateral relations to become increasingly in-depth, effective and substantive in all fields, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia proposed a number of specific directions and measures, including continuing to increase the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially high-level delegations of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly of the two countries, to consolidate political trust and orient the multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his hope that the Party Chairman and President of Angola will soon visit Vietnam so that the two countries have the opportunity to exchange experiences, sign a bilateral cooperation agreement to promote political and economic relations, direct ministries and sectors towards the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, encourage youth and women's organizations to exchange, and support each other at international forums.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on promoting the friendship and cooperation between the two countries and agreed to work together to expand many new areas of cooperation in addition to the traditional cooperation between the two countries.

In talks with Mr. Manuel Domigos Augusto, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of foreign affairs of the MPLA party and Mr. Esteves Carlos Hilário, Politburo member, Secretary in charge of information and communication of the MPLA party, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the development achievements of Angola, under the leadership of the MPLA party, overcoming difficulties and challenges to carry out reforms, diversify the economy, strengthen foreign affairs and international integration.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia also openly shared some lessons learned in Party building as well as Vietnam's socio-economic development strategy, and expressed his belief that the two parties will have directions to guide ministries and branches to implement substantive and effective cooperation, for the sake of traditional friendship, prosperity of each country and the well-being and happiness of the people.

At the talks, the two sides discussed a number of specific cooperation programs, including promoting high-level visits by Angolan Party and State leaders to Vietnam and signing a bilateral cooperation agreement for the 2024-2029 period.

The two sides will also cooperate in developing a plan to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and promote communication work so that the people of the two countries, especially the younger generation, can deeply understand the friendship and tradition that the two countries have worked hard to build over the past half century.

Regarding foreign affairs, the two sides agreed to support continued coordination, unify stances on international and regional issues, and support each other in enhancing prestige and role at multilateral political party forums of which both sides are members.

During the visit and working session in Angola, the delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam had a working session with Foreign Minister Tete António.

In his welcoming speech to Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Mr. António expressed his joy at witnessing the two countries always standing side by side in building and developing the country. In addition to the relationship between the two parties and the two states, people-to-people exchanges are also very deep.

Foreign Minister Tete António said that the Angolan people always remember the presence of the Vietnamese community in Angola, even in the most difficult times, and expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community will always accompany Angola in building and developing the country.

Expressing his belief that the solidarity and friendship between the two countries will help develop Angola’s economy and society, Mr. António hoped that Vietnam would share its development experience, especially in diversifying the economy. He also affirmed that with its position as a gateway to the African market, Angola is a very favorable investment destination for Vietnamese businesses.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that Vietnam always respects and appreciates the socio-economic development results, potential and advantages of Angola, and always values ​​and wishes to promote relations with Angola. He also informed the results of the previous meeting with MPLA Secretary General Paulo Pombolo, according to which the two sides agreed on many cooperation programs to strengthen relations, in which Vietnam is always ready to share experiences with Angola.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested Angola to provide more information and have policies to support Vietnamese enterprises in selling products, expanding business and investing in Angola. In addition, he also requested Angola to continue to create favorable conditions and protect the legitimate and legal interests of the community of thousands of Vietnamese people living, working and studying in Angola.

At a working session with Angolan Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Mário Augusto da Silva Oliveira on the same day, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia proposed to strengthen cooperation in the field of telecommunications technology, information and communication, creating favorable conditions for telecommunications enterprises of the two countries to learn, promote cooperation, and implement market development projects. He also suggested that the two sides promote press agencies to cooperate, share information, and promote each other's culture, country, and people.

Minister Oliveira also expressed his desire to cooperate with Vietnam in telecommunications technology and new technology, and wanted Vietnam to be a partner to help Angola build mobile phone factories, routers, and fiber optic cables, as well as train telecommunications staff for Angola. He also suggested that the press agencies of the two countries cooperate closely and share resources and content with each other.

Also within the framework of the visit and work in Angola, on the evening of May 28, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia and the working delegation met and worked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Angola and the Vietnamese community in Angola.

Speaking to the delegation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Angola Duong Chinh Chuc reported on the basic situation of the Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Angola and the work of the Embassy. The Vietnamese community in Angola currently has about 10,000 people, the largest community of overseas Vietnamese in Africa.

At the meeting, many people shared many feelings and touching stories about life in the African country. Although life abroad still has many difficulties such as rising prices, diseases, malignant malaria, sometimes even danger, and insecurity, the community still constantly strives, shares, builds a united and developing community, contributes to promoting cooperation between the two countries, and always wholeheartedly turns towards the homeland and the country.

Some people expressed their wish that the Party and State would support and provide information so that more Vietnamese enterprises can do business and invest in Angola, and suggested opening a Vietnamese bank branch in the country to support people in doing business and doing business smoothly.

Sharing with the Vietnamese community in Angola, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia expressed his joy at seeing that despite many difficulties, the Vietnamese community in Angola is always united, close-knit, and supports each other to stabilize their lives, integrate well into the local society, and actively contribute to the country's development, playing a bridging role in strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Angola.
