More than 5 points/subject also passed the top universities

The 2025 admissions season saw a series of majors at many schools with record-high benchmark scores, and candidates who scored nearly 10 points per subject could still fail. However, at top universities, some majors have benchmark scores of 15-17, meaning candidates only need to score more than 5 points per subject to be admitted.

Hanoi Medical University set the benchmark score for the majors of Preventive Medicine, Social Work, and Nursing at Thanh Hoa branch at 17 points. With this benchmark score, candidates only need to score more than 5.6 points/subject to be admitted. This score has decreased significantly compared to last year, the major of Nursing at Thanh Hoa branch decreased by 3.25 points, while the major of Preventive Medicine decreased the most by nearly 6 points.

Similarly, at Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the benchmark score is 17 for Public Health and Social Work. This year, some training majors of the school have had their benchmark scores reduced from more than 3 to nearly 5 points, including: Preventive Medicine, Traditional Medicine, Midwifery, Nutrition, Nursing. Of which, Nutrition has seen the sharpest drop, from 24.1 points to 19.25 points, a decrease of nearly 5 points.

The University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has attracted attention when it has two majors with the absolute score of 30/30: English Pedagogy and Chinese Pedagogy. In addition, many other majors also have the score of 26-28, such as Japanese Pedagogy, Korean Pedagogy, English Language, Chinese Language, etc.

However, the school's Economics - Finance major has a benchmark score of 15.6, meaning candidates only need to score 5.2 points/subject to be admitted.

The University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City also has many majors with benchmark scores close to 30, such as Computer Science (advanced program) and Artificial Intelligence, with scores ranging from 29.1 to 29.92. Many other majors have benchmark scores above 28, such as Data Science - Statistics, Microchip Design, etc.

However, the Environmental Science program with enhanced English at this school has a benchmark score of only 17 points, based on the D07 combination and 17.6 points for the B00 combination. Thus, to be admitted to this major at the school, candidates only need to score less than 5.7 points/subject.

Or at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, candidates only need to score 17 points to be admitted to the following majors: Materials Technology; Seafood Processing Technology; Textile and Garment Technology; Environmental Engineering Technology; Natural Resources and Environment Management. Especially for the Business Administration major (joint program with a Thai University), the school has a benchmark score of 16, meaning candidates only need to score more than 5.3 points/subject to be admitted.

At the University of Transport , many majors require candidates to score more than 5 points/subject to be admitted, such as: Traffic Construction Engineering, Vietnamese-English Construction Management, Urban and Construction Management.
