Accordingly, international visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in the first 9 months of 2024 are estimated at 4.014 million, up 12.4% over the same period in 2023, reaching 66.9% of the 2024 plan. Domestic tourists to Ho Chi Minh City in the first 9 months are estimated at 27.353 million, up 1.3% over the same period in 2023, reaching 72% of the 2024 plan.
In terms of revenue, total tourism revenue in the first 9 months of 2024 is estimated to reach more than VND 140,398 billion, an increase of 11.9% over the same period in 2023 and reaching 73.9% of the 2024 plan. These figures partly reflect the development potential of the city's tourism industry in the coming time.
Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism increases the diversity of tourism products and improves service quality.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, in the first 9 months of 2024, tourism product development will continue to focus on typical tourism products of Ho Chi Minh City, while actively promoting cultural and historical tourism products, waterway tourism, medical tourism, MICE tourism, improving the quality of culinary services, contributing to increasing the attractiveness of the city's destinations.
In addition, tourism information and promotion activities are promoted and implemented to create efficiency and spread in promoting the image of Ho Chi Minh City tourism to tourists with the emphasis on promoting the application of information technology to bring tourism activities to online platforms to create effects, interactivity and high spread.
Along with that, the organization of tourism events connected with culture in the City also created highlights with main events such as: Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Festival, Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Festival, Ho Chi Minh City River Festival, Ho Chi Minh City International Tourism Festival... attracting the attention of domestic and foreign visitors; at the same time stimulating domestic tourism, contributing to the development of Ho Chi Minh City tourism industry; creating opportunities for the City's businesses to introduce tourism products and promotional activities to local people and domestic tourists with rich and diverse activities.
Activities at the Ho Chi Minh City River Festival contribute to conveying the cultural and tourism image of Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region with its unique identities and quintessence throughout the history of the land and people through artistic, entertainment and experiential activities on the river;
In addition, in order to create opportunities for freelance workers to find jobs, the Department has coordinated with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to organize the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Job Fair in 2024 with more than 1,200 workers participating in the Fair, including freelance workers, demobilized soldiers and students of tourism training institutions in Ho Chi Minh City. This is not only an opportunity for freelance workers to find jobs, but also a place for tourism service businesses and tourism training institutions to connect to support and improve the quality of tourism human resources in the coming time.
The goal for the whole year 2024, Ho Chi Minh City tourism is expected to welcome about 6 million international visitors and 38 million domestic visitors. Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 190,000 billion VND.
