Not a luxury restaurant, nor does it need colorful lights, the "countryside food festival" in Binh Thanh community tourism village only has a wood stove, the smell of straw smoke and bamboo tables set up in the middle of a windy field, but it still fascinates thousands of people.

Delicious dishes made from memories

From the afternoon until 9pm, tourists flocked to the festival area. In the fields, locals hurriedly made pancakes, grilled snakehead fish, and rolled corn ram… to entertain guests. Rustic dishes such as jackfruit salad, banh it, mung bean sweet soup, xu xoa… were presented simply but very attractively.

Children can run around in the rice fields, play traditional games like blindfolded bamboo pole beating, kicking a ball into a net, throwing rings around ducks' necks, and making rice paper.

Adults sit and watch the bai choi, enjoy the rustic things and sip the village's specialties such as: banh xeo, jackfruit salad (mixed jackfruit), grapefruit salad, corn ram, grilled snakehead fish, banh chung, banh tet, banh it; banh bo, boiled corn; grilled corn, boiled peanuts; boiled sweet potatoes, cassava; xu xoa, black bean water...

The simple and rustic things of the festival make everyone feel lighter in the midst of an increasingly hectic life.

"I never expected that a village could organize such a large-scale festival. Not only did I get to eat delicious food, but I also got to feel the atmosphere of the old village. It was very memorable," said Nguyen Cam Van (Quang Ngai City) when she brought her two children to the festival.

Do tourism from the countryside

Binh Thanh community tourism village is about 14km from the center of Quang Ngai city. This is a land that stands out with the famous fruit garden model in Quang Ngai and the Central region. This fruit growing area has been formed for about 30 years and has been planted more in recent years.

Realizing this advantage, since 2018, Nghia Hanh district, Quang Ngai has started to orient the development of community tourism. Up to now, this model is gradually reaping "sweet fruit", with more and more tourists coming, opening up a new future for the village.

The "Countryside Cuisine" Festival was organized by the Binh Thanh Agricultural - Service and Community Tourism Cooperative, with nearly 50 households participating. During the April 30 and May 1 holidays, the event attracted more than 18,000 visitors to visit, experience and explore local culture.

Mr. Doan Phu Viet Nam - Director of Binh Thanh Agricultural - Service and Community Tourism Cooperative - said: "We want to preserve the taste of our homeland and connect people to the sustainable tourism chain. This is not only a culinary festival, but also a way for our homeland to take advantage of local strengths to do tourism and develop the economy."
