Regarding the incident of boarding students in Lao Cai having meals that did not meet quality standards and showed signs of being cut, on December 22, a leader of the People's Committee of Bac Ha District (Lao Cai) said that the unit had received a resignation letter from Mr. Tran Ngoc Ha, Principal of Hoang Thu Pho 1 Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities.

According to the leader, Mr. Ha took responsibility for his leadership and direction, leading to negative public opinion in society. Mr. Ha is currently suspended from work for investigation and verification. The district is considering Mr. Ha's resignation.

Regarding the contents related to the reflection of the program 24-hour Movement ( Vietnam Television) , Bac Ha district is completing procedures to transfer to the police for investigation and verification.

Previously, regarding the above incident, on December 19, the Ministry of Education and Training requested the People's Committee of Lao Cai province to direct and verify the reported content; strictly handle relevant collectives and individuals (if there are violations) according to the provisions of law and notify the results to the ministry before January 5, 2024.

Meanwhile, the Lao Cai Department of Education and Training has requested that high schools install surveillance cameras in food preparation areas, meal distribution areas, and student dining areas. Create accounts and publicize camera access accounts for parents, organizations, and agencies to access and monitor (to be installed before January 10, 2024), and the school's autonomous funding source.

For kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools, it is recommended that the People's Committees of districts, towns, and cities study the installation of surveillance cameras to direct affiliated educational institutions according to decentralization to effectively manage meals and meals for boarding students.

In addition, the Lao Cai Department of Education and Training requested the People's Committees at the district level to direct and review the organization and implementation of regulations on support policies of the Government and the province on strengthening the management of policies at educational institutions; publicize finances, publicize daily meals of boarding and semi-boarding students according to regulations; encourage people and parents to support staff in cooking; at the same time, monitor the quality of daily meals of boarding and semi-boarding students at the school.
