Most areas have thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the day and night of August 20, in the mountainous areas of the North, there will be rain, moderate rain and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 15 - 35 mm, locally over 100 mm. Rain will be concentrated in the early morning, late afternoon and night.

In other areas of the North, Thanh Hoa and the South, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall from 10 - 30 mm, locally over 60 mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain over 50 mm/3 hours. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Localized heavy rains are likely to cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Hai Phong

- Cloudy, with occasional showers and thunderstorms in the late afternoon and evening. Light winds. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning and strong gusts of wind.

- Lowest temperature from 25 - 26 degrees Celsius, highest from 31 - 33 degrees Celsius.

Northwest
- Cloudy, with scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day, with some heavy rain in some places. In the evening and at night there will be moderate rain and thunderstorms, with some places having heavy to very heavy rain.

- The lowest temperature is from 24 - 27 degrees Celsius, some places below 23 degrees Celsius; the highest is from 31 - 34 degrees Celsius, especially in Dien Bien and Lai Chau areas from 28 - 31 degrees Celsius.

Northeastern Region

- During the day, there will be showers and thunderstorms in some places. In the evening and at night, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places; in mountainous areas, there will be rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, some places will have heavy to very heavy rain. Southeast to south wind level 2 - 3.

- Lowest temperature from 24 - 27 degrees Celsius, some places below 24 degrees Celsius; highest from 31 - 34 degrees Celsius.

Thanh Hoa to Hue

- Sunny day, hot in some places; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. In Thanh Hoa area, there are scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain in some places.

- Lowest temperature from 24 - 27 degrees Celsius, highest from 32 - 35 degrees Celsius, in the south some places are above 35 degrees Celsius.

South Central Coast

Southern Region
