(HQ Online) - According to information from border gates in Lang Son province, in recent days, the volume of imported goods and vehicles entering Vietnam through Huu Nghi international border gate has increased, leading to slow customs clearance.
According to statistics from the Dong Dang Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board (Lang Son), at Huu Nghi international border gate (Dong Dang town, Cao Loc district) alone, on March 17, 18 and 19, there were about 1,400 vehicles carrying imported goods, an increase of about 150 vehicles compared to the previous days.
Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Head of Dong Dang Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board, said that currently, the trade demand of enterprises of the two countries is very large. The number of vehicles waiting to complete export procedures at Huu Nghi Quan Border Gate (China) is large, with a number of about 1,000 vehicles. It is known that the main imported items are new cars, machinery, equipment, and raw materials that enterprises complete import procedures to serve production in industrial parks.

To resolve the situation of imported goods backlog and slow customs clearance, currently, the Dong Dang Border Gate Economic Zone Management Board has discussed and agreed with the authorities in Bang Tuong town (Guangxi - China) on solutions to facilitate customs clearance of import and export goods of enterprises at the Huu Nghi (Vietnam) - Huu Nghi Quan (China) international border gate pair.
Accordingly, the two sides agreed to reopen the Ta Phu Son tunnel (China) and separate the lanes for empty cargo vehicles of both sides to pass through the area of landmarks 1116-1117 to return to their countries after delivery; and the dedicated road for transporting goods in the area of landmarks 1119-1120 is for vehicles carrying export goods.
In addition, the functional forces of both sides agreed to work an additional 2 hours (up to 20 hours per day). Initially, this solution will be applied on March 17 and 18 to increase customs clearance efficiency. In the following days, depending on the actual situation, the functional forces of both countries will agree to work more if the number of imported vehicles continues to increase, creating conditions for vehicles waiting for export to move smoothly, meeting the needs of businesses.
A representative of Lang Son Customs Department said that to continue promoting import and export goods through Lang Son province's border gates, Lang Son Customs is continuing to organize meetings with Chinese customs to discuss increasing new methods of goods delivery.
Talking to Customs Magazine about the situation of handling customs clearance procedures for goods at the border gate area, a representative of the Huu Nghi Border Gate Customs Branch said that not only at this time but also since the beginning of the year, the unit has proactively implemented many solutions and coordinated well with the border gate functional forces, creating the most favorable conditions for businesses to clear customs quickly and in accordance with regulations; ensuring the facilitation of border trade while meeting the development requirements of businesses.
At the same time, there are no interruptions during the week, all shifts work in the spirit of clearing goods as usual; ensuring customs clearance of goods to avoid congestion, preparing the best mindset to serve businesses with import-export activities through the branch, the branch representative added.
In addition, Huu Nghi Customs is actively coordinating with functional forces at the Huu Nghi international border gate to exchange information with Chinese functional forces to have a unified plan to extend customs clearance time, regulate vehicles and cargo flow to ensure the border gate is always clear, helping import and export activities between Vietnam and China to be smooth and effective.
In particular, since the end of 2023, Huu Nghi Customs has focused on increasing the capacity of customs clearance for import and export goods such as shortening customs clearance time, arranging for civil servants in the professional chain to work overtime, ensuring that 100% of shipments that have completed customs procedures according to regulations are actually exported and imported within the day. In particular, the Sub-Department arranges civil servants to receive and process procedures for enterprises until 10:00 p.m., even 11:00 p.m. if there are still declarations that need to be processed.
