Hanoi rises in list of livable cities

Chinese cities have made great strides in the rankings over the past 10 years, despite losing some momentum due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Some issues continue to be challenging for expats, including high levels of pollution and healthcare facilities, but improvements in areas such as transport infrastructure and international schools are the reasons for the cities' rise. Specifically, Shenzhen ranked 137th, up 15 places compared to 10 years ago, Xi'an ranked 163rd, up 13 places, Hong Kong (China) ranked 77th, up 15 places compared to 2023.
