The above information was announced by the Hanoi Statistical Office this morning, May 2. The average CPI in the first 4 months of 2025 increased by 2.89% compared to the average of the same period in 2024.

8/11 commodity groups had CPI increases compared to the previous month. Specifically, the housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials group increased by 1.01%, affecting the overall CPI increase by 0.21% (of which house rental prices increased by 0.93%; other housing maintenance materials increased by 1.1%).
The beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.17%; the garment, hat and footwear group increased by 0.1%; the food and catering services group increased by 0.09%, increasing the overall CPI by 0.03% (of which food prices increased by 0.15%; eating out increased by 0.05%).
Meanwhile, the group of household appliances and equipment increased by 0.08%; the group of culture, entertainment and tourism increased by 0.07%; and the group of education increased by 0.01%.
Also in April, 3 commodity groups had CPI decrease compared to the previous month including: Transportation group decreased by 1.05% (average in the month, gasoline price decreased by 2.8%; diesel price decreased by 3.32%); post and telecommunications group and medicine and medical services group both decreased by 0.02%.
Compared to the previous month, the gold price index in April increased by 12.07% and the US dollar price index increased by 1.13%.
