New phase, new motivation: Patriotic emulation to elevate the financial industry

Competition is the driving force in development periods.

Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang emphasized that the Congress is an opportunity to summarize and evaluate the emulation and reward work over the past 5 years, honor outstanding collectives and individuals, and set out goals and solutions for the next stage. Emulation and reward are always the driving force for development, associated with political tasks and studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

Over the past 5 years, despite facing many international fluctuations, trade conflicts, technological competition, natural disasters, epidemics, etc., the Finance sector has proactively and flexibly managed, contributing to stabilizing the macro economy , controlling inflation, maintaining an average GDP growth of 6.3%/year; in the first 6 months of 2025 alone, it reached 7.52%. The GDP scale in 2025 is estimated at over 510 billion USD, ranking 32nd in the world; GDP per capita is about 4,700 USD. Average inflation is 3-4%/year; budget deficit is about 3.8% of GDP; public debt is 37-38% of GDP. Total social investment capital is about 33.2% of GDP; budget revenue is 9.4 million billion VND, far exceeding the target.

The Minister said that the above results had important contributions from patriotic emulation movements, many initiatives and effective solutions that brought practical benefits to the State and society. However, some units still had formal movements, not closely linked to tasks; rewards were slow and untimely.

Take competition results as criteria for evaluating cadres

To promote the achieved results and overcome the shortcomings, the Minister proposed 5 groups of tasks:

Thoroughly grasp and effectively implement the Party and State's policies on emulation and rewards; use emulation results as criteria for evaluating cadres.

Organize practical and creative movements, associated with political tasks; combine regular emulation with specialized emulation and sprint emulation.

Strengthen inspection, interim review, final review; timely reward, right person, right job, using efficiency as the measure.

Discover and replicate advanced models to create a widespread effect.

Improve the capacity of the team doing emulation and reward work; perfect the streamlined and efficient apparatus.

Within the framework of the Congress, the Organizing Committee awarded noble awards of the Party and State such as the Labor Medal, the Military Exploit Medal, the Government's Emulation Flag, and the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to outstanding collectives and individuals.

The Ministry of Finance launched the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2026-2030 with the slogan: " Promoting the tradition of solidarity, innovation, breakthrough, and development; competing to build a sustainable, modern, and integrated national finance .".
