On the afternoon of December 26, Binh Lieu district solemnly held a meeting to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the district's founding (December 26, 1919 - December 26, 2024).

At the meeting, delegates reviewed the history, glorious revolutionary tradition and outstanding achievements of Binh Lieu district over 105 years of formation and development.

Previously, Binh Lieu consisted of two communes, Binh Lieu and Kien Duyen, of Tien Yen district, Hai Ninh prefecture, Quang Yen province. In 1919, the two communes, Binh Lieu and Kien Duyen, were separated from Tien Yen district and established Binh Lieu district. The August Revolution in 1945 succeeded, the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was born, the Binh Lieu revolutionary government was established, and from then on, Binh Lieu district was renamed Binh Lieu district.

Binh Lieu is a land rich in tradition and culture, with its own unique identity. In the cause of building and defending the Fatherland, regardless of conditions and circumstances, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Binh Lieu district are always resilient, united and stand side by side. The later generations have always respected, preserved, protected and promoted the achievements of the previous generations. The glorious revolutionary historical tradition and the unique cultural values ​​that have been crystallized have become the foundation; an important premise for the process of innovation and development of Binh Lieu district.

With the continuous efforts, attention and support of the Central Government and Quang Ninh province, Binh Lieu district has been growing with remarkable developments. The average annual economic growth rate is over 13.5%; the average income per capita in 2024 is over 80 million VND; the economic structure has shifted towards increasing the proportion of the service industry. Binh Lieu district has promoted the driving role of the Hoanh Mo - Dong Van Border Gate Economic Zone to develop border economic activities; exploited the potential and advantages, especially the unique traditional cultural values ​​of a land with over 94% of ethnic minorities to develop tourism; contributed to promoting economic growth and economic restructuring. The industry - construction sector has developed stably, the infrastructure system in the district has received investment attention, meeting the requirements of local socio-economic development. The agricultural sector is gradually developing towards commodity production, with high value and sustainability.

The rural appearance has many changes. In 2023, Binh Lieu district was recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting new rural standards; it is the first mountainous and border district in the country to complete the program's goals according to the national criteria for the period 2021-2025. The cultural and social fields are increasingly developing, the spiritual and cultural life of the people is improved, the good traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minority communities in the district are preserved, maintained, promoted and developed. Education and training work has many positive changes, the rate of national standard schools is 100%. The work of protecting and taking care of people's health is respected. Social security policies are implemented with attention. National defense and security are always maintained, foreign affairs activities are strengthened.

Attention has been paid to the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system; the great national unity bloc has been increasingly consolidated, creating great strength to successfully carry out revolutionary tasks in each period.

With its achievements in the cause of national construction and defense, Binh Lieu district has been honored by the Party and State to recognize and award over 600 medals to collectives and individuals, including the title of hero to 6 collectives: Hoanh Mo Commune, Dong Van Commune, District Police, Battalion 6 of the Local Army, Company 6 of the Border Guard and Hoanh Mo Border Gate Border Post. In February 2002, the Party and State awarded the army and people of Binh Lieu district the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces. In 2019, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its founding and 70th anniversary of its liberation, Binh Lieu district was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal. These are the marks and milestones that have further enhanced the glorious historical tradition in the development journey of more than a century; At the same time, it is a source of encouragement and a great source of strength for the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Binh Lieu district to continue to strive to achieve even greater achievements in the coming period.
