On the afternoon of March 13, the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee held a meeting on the progress of implementing traffic routes connecting to the North-South high-speed railway through the province.

According to the planning, the North-South high-speed railway route through Binh Thuan province is 156 km long with 2 passenger stations, Phan Thiet and Phan Ri.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Trung, Director of the Traffic Project Management Board of Binh Thuan province, said that a plan has been made for the route connecting Phan Thiet city center with the North-South high-speed railway.

According to the design, the route is expected to be 11.2km long, with 12 lanes after completion, with a total investment of about 6,990 billion VND.

In particular, reserve land is arranged to invest in a future urban light rail system (metro train) synchronized with the road route.

Regarding the roadmap, it is expected that phase 1 (2026 - 2030) will complete site clearance work along the entire route, complete investment in 6 motor vehicle lanes and technical infrastructure works with a total investment of about 6,470 billion VND.

Phase 2 (after 2030) will continue to invest in the remaining items including 6 lanes and median strip with an estimated cost of about 520 billion VND.

Mr. Do Huu Huy, Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, requested the Provincial Traffic Project Management Board to speed up the approval of connecting traffic routes, shorten the progress as quickly as possible to deploy connecting traffic routes.

Request the Department of Finance to prioritize resources and coordinate with localities to urgently deploy preparations for site clearance and resettlement of people affected by the project.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh, Secretary of the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee, said that the North-South high-speed railway is a strategic and key national project. As soon as the project was approved by the National Assembly for investment, Binh Thuan province proactively developed a plan to connect important national transport routes with the provincial center.

The implementation of the road project connecting the station to the center of Phan Thiet city and the planning options for the Phan Ri station area are among the very important political tasks of Binh Thuan province.

He requested that the planning work and effective use of land funds on both sides of the new road be submitted to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee in April 2025 for comments. Relevant planning and pre-feasibility study reports must be completed no later than July 2025.

At the same time, research and report to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on the planning plan for the Phan Ri station area. The process of researching and implementing the project needs to pay attention to the lives and livelihoods of people with land in the project area.

"Binh Thuan province is determined to complete the project no later than the fourth quarter of 2028, ready to connect with the North-South high-speed railway," said Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh.
