Elon Musk officially 'kills' Twitter's familiar icon

The familiar blue bird icon of the social network Twitter has just been "killed" by Elon Musk and changed to the letter "X".

Elon Musk has just decided to "kill" Twitter's blue bird icon after suggesting a change to the social network's icon a few days ago. Now, when users access Twitter, they will see a black "X" icon.

Twitter's logo changes over the years. Elon Musk's "X" logo has nothing to do with previous blue bird logos.

This is the first time Twitter has changed its logo without a blue bird since its founding in 2006. The reason this social network has been associated with the bird symbol since its inception is because Twitter means "chirping" in English, and messages posted on Twitter are called "tweets" (meaning "chirping of baby birds" in English).

In April 2023, Elon Musk made a major change when he made Twitter a subsidiary of X Holdings Corp, which he founded and owns. Now, Elon Musk has decided to change Twitter's logo to "X".

In October 2022, Musk spent $44 billion to acquire Twitter and take the social network private. This gives him full control of Twitter and the ability to make changes to the social network at will, instead of having to go through the board of directors as when Twitter was a public company.

Many people think that Elon Musk wants to erase all the previous "remnants" of the social network Twitter to create something completely new.

However, Elon Musk's efforts are facing many difficulties, as Twitter's advertising revenue is falling sharply because some brands are cutting advertising spending on Twitter.

In addition, Twitter also seems to be gradually losing its ability to control the content shared on this social networking platform, causing fake, negative, racist content to appear more and more.

Notably, earlier this month, Meta (the parent company of Facebook and Instagram) also launched a social networking platform Threads, which looks and functions like Twitter.

Threads' user base has skyrocketed, with many Twitter users switching to Threads out of frustration with Elon Musk's management style.
