On September 20, authorities in Phu Tho province continued to carry out rescue work and salvage the collapsed Phong Chau bridge, which had been stuck for more than 10 days on the Tam Nong district shore.

According to the records at the scene of the salvage of the collapsed bridge section, 2 large cranes were mobilized and installed on the shore. The rescue team used concrete breakers and gas welders to cut each steel truss section of the collapsed bridge to proceed with the salvage.

At the location preparing to install the pontoon bridge, officers and soldiers of Brigade 249, Engineering Corps continued to pour rocks and reinforce the approach road to the pontoon bridge at two locations on the banks of Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts.

Present at the scene this morning, Mr. Bui Van Quang, Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee, requested all forces to make efforts, continue to mobilize vehicles and human resources, deploy plans to salvage the bridge span and search for missing people.

According to Mr. Quang, after cutting and bringing the steel trusses of the bridge to the assembly point, the rescue team needs to immediately salvage the truck and quickly search for the missing people. Members of the monitoring team are responsible for recording and taking photos of the entire salvage process to serve as documentation for the investigation into the cause of the bridge collapse.
