According to the report of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) and TC Group, Xpander's sales in July increased by 20.7% compared to June 2024, reaching an impressive number, but compared to the same period last year, sales still decreased sharply by 42.3% (from 2,586 cars to 1,492 cars).
However, Mitsubishi Xpander still affirms its solid position when continuing to be the best-selling car model in the MPV segment. Not only that, Xpander is also the only representative in the MPV segment to enter the Top 10 best-selling cars in the entire market, ranking 4th, just behind other models such as VinFast VF 5, Mitsubishi Xforce and Toyota Vios.
Mitsubishi Xpander with sales of 1,492 vehicles, leads the MPV segment in Vietnam.
In second place in the segment is the Toyota Veloz Cross, with 766 units sold in July. Despite a growth of 14.3% compared to the previous month and an increase of 46.7% compared to the same period last year, the Veloz Cross is still far behind the Xpander in the sales race. Since the beginning of 2024, the Toyota Veloz Cross has reached a total of 3,553 units, down 41.6% compared to the same period last year.
Notably, the Hyundai Stargazer X, which has just launched an upgraded version, has made great strides, ranking third in the segment with 618 units sold in July, up 14% compared to the previous month and up 312% compared to the same period last year. However, the total sales of the Stargazer X in the first 7 months of the year still decreased by 21.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
Toyota Veloz Cross with 766 vehicles sold in July 2024, up 14.3% over the previous month (reaching 670 vehicles).
KIA Carnival and KIA Carens ranked fourth and fifth respectively in the MPV sales rankings in July. With 500 units sold, KIA Carnival increased by 11.8% compared to the previous month, bringing total sales in the first 7 months of the year to 2,973 units. Meanwhile, KIA Carens appeared in the Top 5 for the first time with sales of 394 units, up 7% compared to the previous month, reaching a total of 2,241 units in the first 7 months of the year.
With the outstanding leadership of Mitsubishi Xpander, it can be seen that this car line still maintains its position in the hearts of Vietnamese consumers, despite increasingly fierce competition from rivals. In the context of the increasingly vibrant MPV market, the sales race between models in the segment promises to have many surprises in the coming months.
