The Hanoi Train, also known as the Hanoi 5-door train, is one of two projects registered by Vietnam Railways Corporation for the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony on August 19.
The project belongs to group C, investing in converting and renovating 7 A2T carriages (2-story seat carriages) into carriages with suitable interiors and spaces to serve domestic and international tourists .
After completion, The Hanoi Train, also known as Hanoi 5-gate Train, consists of 10 carriages, designed with two floors, including 5 passenger carriages designed according to 5 different themes, inspired by 5 famous gates in Hanoi's history: Quan Chuong Gate, Cau Den Gate, Dong Mac Gate, Cau Giay Gate and Cho Dua Gate.
When in operation, the train will operate 3 trips per day, departing from Hanoi station and passing through Long Bien, Gia Lam, Yen Vien, Tu Son station (Bac Ninh), then turning back.
Departure times are 8:00, 14:00 and one trip at 20:30, suitable for tourists to experience the journey in both day and night space depending on their needs.
The trains are designed in luxurious dark tones, with a nostalgic feel. Each carriage has large windows for passengers to conveniently enjoy the scenery along the way. The interior is designed in a style that blends classic and modern, using wood materials, soft lighting and decorative motifs bearing the mark of old Hanoi.

Inspired by successive layers of culture through the ages, the interior design not only evokes old images but also breathes new life into them, turning memories into a living part of the modern space. The Hanoi 5-door train is expected to create a boost to attract visitors during the peak of the National Day holiday on September 2, becoming a new tourist symbol in the heart of the capital.
Currently, the train cars are being rushed to complete the final stages of interior and exterior painting to prepare for the first phase of operation on August 19. There are 7 cars completed in advance to be ready to be put into operation, serving tourists right before the National Day holiday on September 2.
This is the first time a tourist train has been specially designed to introduce Hanoi culture through a railway journey, combining nostalgic elements and modern amenities.
In addition to The Hanoi Train project, also known as Hanoi Train with 5 gates, on August 19, Vietnam Railways Corporation will launch a ticket control system using biometric technology on the VNeID application installed at Hanoi station./.
