On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Ham Rong victory (April 3, 4, 1965 - April 3, 4, 2025) and towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), on the morning of April 2, the delegation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Thanh Hoa province, led by comrade Nguyen Doan Anh, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, came to offer flowers and incense at the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Cultural Area, the Temple of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers and Heroic Martyrs, the Victory Youth Volunteer Monument, the Memorial Area for teachers and students who sacrificed their lives on the Ma River dike construction site, and the Ham Rong Martyrs Cemetery.

60 years ago, with bravery, intelligence, courage and the spirit of "Determination to Win", on April 3 and 4, 1965, the army and people of Thanh Hoa town and the participating forces bravely defended Ham Rong bridge, foiling the plot to cut off the important traffic artery, preventing support from the Northern rear to the great battlefield in the South. In that fierce battle, every mountain, river, construction site, and factory was a target of fierce attacks by the US air force. In the face of rain of bombs and bullets, the army and people of Thanh Hoa town and the participating forces still bravely demonstrated their iron determination to defend Ham Rong bridge. With that determination, on April 3 and 4, 1965, our army and people shot down 47 US planes, capturing many pilots. The US empire had to bitterly admit: "Those were two dark days of the US air force".

The feat of the army and people of Ham Rong was praised in a letter by President Ho Chi Minh. He wrote: “Very good! The people of Ham Rong are good. The workers of Ham Rong are good. The farmers of Ham Rong are also good. The soldiers and militia of Ham Rong are all good. Try to produce and fight even better to defeat the American invaders.” The victory of Ham Rong is not only the pride of the people of Thanh Hoa but also the victory of the people's war policy, of the indomitable will, the steadfast spirit and intelligence of Vietnam, becoming a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, adding confidence and will for the army and people of the whole country to continue to advance to defeat the American imperialists and their lackeys, regain independence, freedom and unify the country.
