Dien Bien Dong district has 4 macadamia planting projects implemented by 3 investors with a total scale of over 24,200 hectares. Up to now, the whole district has planted 1,050 hectares of macadamia trees.

The high-tech macadamia planting project of Kinh Bac Dien Bien Macadamia Joint Stock Company is implemented in 4 communes: Keo Lom, Phinh Giang, Pu Hong and Phi Nhu with a scale of 7,000 hectares. Of which: The State leases land with an expected area of ​​4,900 hectares; investors cooperate and associate with local people with an expected area of ​​2,100 hectares.

Mr. Vang A Bong, Chairman of Keo Lom Commune People's Committee, said: Keo Lom Commune has 19/23 villages in the macadamia tree planting project area. At the beginning of the project implementation, we could not clearly determine which villages would create core areas for investors. After propagating to 19/19 villages in the project area, the Commune People's Committee determined that creating core areas for investors in Mong ethnic villages is very difficult because most of the area is being produced by the people. For Thai villages that cultivate wet rice, the area of ​​abandoned fields is large, so the possibility of people agreeing to the project implementation policy is higher. Therefore, Keo Lom Commune focused on propagating and mobilizing 2 villages: Huoi Xa I and Huoi Xa II where Thai ethnic people live.

Mr. Dao Tuan Dung, Head of Land Fund Development Department of Kinh Bac Dien Bien Macadamia Joint Stock Company, said: In addition to the prescribed policies, during the implementation of the project communication campaign, the company is committed to using 100% of local labor, creating jobs and stable income for the people. In addition, the Company always accompanies the villages in all work and common activities of the village. After many efforts, the people of the two villages agreed to return the land for the enterprise to implement the project. In 2023, the Company planted 200 hectares of new macadamia trees. At the same time, it signed regular labor contracts with 17 workers (with a salary of 5 million VND/month) and used thousands of seasonal workers (with a salary of 180,000 VND/day).

Coming to Huoi Xa I village at this time, the abandoned fields for many years, overgrown with weeds, have been replaced by lush macadamia gardens.

Mr. Lo Van Huong, Secretary of the Party Cell of Huoi Xa I village, said: 45 households in the village have returned their land to the investor to implement the macadamia planting project. After the people returned the land, Kinh Bac Dien Bien Macadamia Joint Stock Company fully paid the prescribed policies; employed workers, created jobs, and provided stable income for the people of the village. Therefore, 100% of households trust and agree to participate in the project.

In 2023, Tuan Giao district planted nearly 1,000 hectares of macadamia trees in the direction of production linkage in 100% of communes in the area. To successfully implement, Tuan Giao district has developed plans and communication campaigns for each project suitable to the actual conditions in each commune. Establish and promote community digital technology teams, connecting from the district to villages and hamlet groups to promote propaganda, guide and urge people to plant, care for and protect trees.

The district has established 156 zalo groups, with activities focusing on planting and caring for macadamia. Of which, there is a large district-level group - "Macadamia Tuan Giao", with the participation of the Chairman of the District People's Committee, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee in charge of agriculture; heads, deputy heads, and professional staff of a number of related departments; 18 chairmen of commune People's Committees, and 155 heads of macadamia cooperatives in the area. After planting, the District Party Committee and People's Committee of Tuan Giao district organized a dialogue conference with the people to resolve difficulties in project implementation. Promoting the achieved results, Tuan Giao district strives to plant 2,500 hectares of new macadamia trees in the direction of production linkage by the end of 2025.
