Five years ago, Tran De Ethnic Boarding School and Secondary School, Tran De district was built and put into operation, helping nearly 300 Khmer ethnic students in this locality have better learning conditions. The school has 3 areas, including the learning area, the administrative area, especially the boarding area with a total of 36 rooms, basically meeting the needs of students studying and boarding.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Vice Principal of Tran De Ethnic Minority Primary and Secondary School, said: "The Party and State pay great attention to ethnic minority students, invest a lot in facilities, schools and support tuition exemption and reduction for them, which makes Khmer parents and students in Tran De very excited."
In recent times, Soc Trang has always prioritized investment in building infrastructure and spacious schools in the Khmer ethnic minority area. This investment has created favorable conditions for children to continuously study well.
Visiting Chau Thanh Ethnic Minority Secondary School, the first impression is that the facilities are spacious and modern, the school yard is bright, green, clean and beautiful. The school was put into operation in the 2012-2013 school year and met national standards in 2016, re-meeting national standards in 2021. With the facilities and equipment, ensuring teaching, accommodation, living activities... has helped to significantly improve the quality of students' learning.
"At the beginning of the school year, the children are given notebooks, pens, mosquito nets, mats, books... teachers always care about us, so we feel very secure in studying," said Son Hao Nghi, a student at Chau Thanh Ethnic Minority Secondary School.
In recent school years, the school has always had more than 70% of students achieving good academic performance and all students are promoted to the next grade. Studying here, students also regularly participate in cultural, sports and artistic activities organized by the school. These activities help students understand more about the traditional culture of the nation, gain confidence in their studies...
"In 2023, the Department of Education and Training will invest in upgrading, repairing, boarding, multi-purpose buildings, and purchasing equipment for Chau Thanh Ethnic Minority Secondary School with over 7.4 billion VND (funding from the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development in Ethnic Minority Areas), thereby helping the school, as well as the learning conditions of ethnic minority children, to be more favorable and improve quality," added Mr. Nguyen Van My, Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh District People's Committee.
In Long Phu district, in recent times, this locality has always paid attention to investing in developing and perfecting the school system, from kindergartens to high schools according to national standards. In particular, Long Phu Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities has recently completed phase II to meet national standards with an implementation cost of more than 20 billion VND.
In addition, the district currently has 15 schools in ethnic minority areas that meet national standards. Ethnic education policies have brought about practical results, helping to improve the quality of education and training and increase the rate of Khmer ethnic students attending school every year.
Mr. Lieng Hien Su, Principal of Long Phu District Ethnic Minority Secondary School, added: "With the attention of the Department of Education and Training of Soc Trang province, the District Party Committee - People's Committee of Long Phu district has invested in the school's facilities: especially the subject classrooms, auxiliary rooms and schoolyard, which have been basically completed and put into use this school year, with full facilities as they are now, helping the school improve the quality of education and move towards national standards in this school year and the following years; policies for teachers and students are fully and promptly implemented".
Currently, Soc Trang has 10 boarding schools for ethnic minorities with thousands of students from ethnic minorities studying. With the attention of the Party Committee and local authorities, schools in the ethnic minority school system have always been invested in, upgraded, repaired, and built, gradually meeting the teaching and learning needs of teachers and ethnic minority students. From there, education in the local ethnic minority area has continuously developed.
