On March 24, the People's Committee of Hai Chau District announced a plan to pilot the Bach Dang walking street, with the expectation that this will be a new tourism product and service, attracting visitors to Da Nang.
Two forms of business on Da Nang walking street
According to this plan, Bach Dang walking street is about 1.2km long, located on the west bank of the Han River from the foot of Dragon Bridge to the foot of Tran Thi Ly Bridge and connecting with Nguyen Van Troi Bridge (about 513m), operating from 3pm to midnight every day.
Hai Chau District plans to open two types of businesses on Bach Dang walking street: mobile vending vehicles and kiosks.
For mobile sales clusters, businesses will purchase their own cars to move to the registered location to operate. Hai Chau District will arrange for these business owners an area on the sidewalk of Bach Dang Street, where tables and chairs can be placed, with an area of 10x2.5m.
Business people will be free to buy tables and chairs according to their preferences but must ensure the aesthetics of the street.
Mobile vending vehicles are allowed to sell alcoholic beverages and must dispose of their own waste.
The kiosks will be arranged alternately with mobile vehicle clusters. To meet the aesthetic requirements as well as to ensure the assets of the business units, the district requires investment in container-style kiosks with international standard dimensions (6x2.5x2.6m). The business units will decorate their own kiosk models.
At the announcement ceremony, Hai Chau district also provided images of many container kiosk designs for businesses to visualize and refer to.

Auction location and pay monthly road toll
Hai Chau District said it will publicly auction all business locations on the walking street and collect management fees according to city regulations.
For mobile vending vehicles, the starting price for a business location for 54 months (until December 2028) is 129 million VND, including parking space and table and chair area.
Car owners also have to pay an additional 6.7 million VND/month for sidewalk and road fees.
For kiosks, the starting price is 127 million VND, and the monthly sidewalk and road fee is 6 million VND.
Da Nang will publicly auction business locations on Bach Dang walking street.
Bach Dang walking street is located in a beautiful area on the banks of the Han River.
With open space, from here visitors can enjoy the view of the city along the river and watch the Dragon Bridge breathe fire and water on weekends.
When it comes into operation, on the east side of Bach Dang Street, the walking street is expected to have 3 clusters with 12 kiosks selling goods along the entire sidewalk and 5 clusters with 15 mobile sales vehicles.
To serve residents and tourists, the walking street will have 5 "check-in" points, install free WiFi stations, arrange security cameras, and renovate the path leading to Nguyen Van Troi bridge...

How to get around Bach Dang Street?
During the walking street's operation, from Monday to Thursday, the extended Bach Dang Street (from the foot of Dragon Bridge to Tran Thi Ly Bridge) will use an eastern lane with a grid of parking spaces to accommodate mobile vending vehicles.
The remaining three lanes are one-way, with hourly speed limit signs of 40km/h and hourly motor vehicle restrictions.
The remaining three days of the week, Hai Chau district will close the entire Bach Dang street to serve the walking street activities.
