Shortlist of 30 Vietnamese national team players to Qatar to attend Asian Cup 2023

Coach Troussier has just announced the list of 30 players of the Vietnamese team going to Qatar to attend the 2023 Asian Cup. Among them, Hoang Duc missed the appointment at the last minute due to injury.

On the afternoon of January 4, Coach Troussier held a press conference to announce the list of 30 Vietnamese players to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup. The whole team will leave for Qatar to prepare for this tournament on January 5.

Unfortunately, Hoang Duc missed the tournament in Qatar at the last minute. The player of The Cong - Viettel did not recover from his injury in time.

Compared to the preliminary list, the Vietnamese team has lost 8 players due to injury: Dang Van Lam, Que Ngoc Hai, Nguyen Thanh Chung, Nguyen Hoang Duc, Hoang Van Toan, Nguyen Duc Chien, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Tien Linh.

Coach Troussier added two replacement players, Ho Tan Tai and Pham Van Luan. Along with that, 4 players were promoted from the Vietnam U23 team, including Nguyen Van Viet, Le Van Do, Nguyen Van Truong and Bui Vi Hao.

Sharing about the injury situation of the Vietnamese team, coach Troussier said: "Some players unfortunately got injured in the last round of V-League 2023/24. I asked them to gather early for medical examination.

Some of the lighter ones, we have to predict when they can return and use them in the upcoming tournament. This group of players are practicing rehabilitation with the doctors, I hope they can play soon.

The whole team is training hard and luckily there are no new injuries. The injuries all appeared before the players joined the national team. I think the players are performing well and trying to prove themselves."

The whole team will leave for Qatar for training on January 5. There, the Vietnamese team will have a friendly match with Kyrgyzstan on January 9.

At the 2023 Asian Cup, the Vietnamese team is in Group D with Japan, Iraq and Indonesia. In the upcoming tournament, Coach Troussier's team will play against Japan (6:30 p.m. on January 14), Indonesia (9:30 p.m. on January 19) and Iraq (6:30 p.m. on January 24).
