Tourist killed in knife attack near Eiffel Tower

Reuters quoted local police as saying that the attack occurred at around 7 p.m. on December 2 when the suspect used a knife to attack a tourist couple on Quai de Grenelle, just meters from the Eiffel Tower. During the police chase, the suspect continued to attack two other people with a hammer.

The attack left a German-Filipino tourist dead from stab wounds to the shoulder and back, while two others were injured and hospitalized.

Police have arrested the suspect, but have not released his identity. According to French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, the suspect shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is great) during the attack.

According to BFM TV, the suspect was born in 1997 in France and is known to have adhered to radical Islamic views and suffered from "serious mental disorders".
