Da Lat recorded a surge in searches for the April 30 holiday due to its cool air and beautiful scenery, according to a survey by Booking.

On April 18, the Netherlands-based booking application Booking announced the 10 domestic destinations most loved by Vietnamese tourists during the April 30 holiday. Da Lat continued to be the destination with the most bookings, followed by Da Nang, Nha Trang, Vung Tau, Ho Chi Minh City, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, Phan Thiet, and Mui Ne.

The list of favorite destinations for April 30 this year has not changed much compared to the same period last year. This year, Phan Thiet and Mui Ne are two new destinations in the top 10, replacing Phu Quoc and Ha Long last year.

The results were released by tracking searches with check-in dates from April 26 to May 1, with coastal or cool-climate destinations leading the search trend this year.

Booking.com’s Travel Predictions 2024 report found that 75% of Vietnamese travelers are looking for cool destinations to escape the heat as average temperatures continue to rise. Da Lat, a city known for its cool climate and peaceful landscape, saw a spike in searches.

Booking also announced the 10 international destinations that Vietnamese guests booked the most during the holiday, with Bangkok, Thailand topping the list. The next names include Singapore, Seoul, South Korea, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Tokyo, Japan, Ubud, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Phuket, and Chiang Mai, Thailand. For international destinations, Vietnamese guests tend to travel nearby or choose destinations that do not require a visa. Thailand is still the most favorite destination with 3 locations in the top 10. In 2023, Bangkok will also be the international city that Vietnamese guests choose to visit the most during the April 30 holiday.

Varun Grover, Country Manager of Booking in Vietnam, said that long holidays are a time for people to put aside their busy work and relax. "81% of Vietnamese travelers feel that their lives are enriched through travel," said Varun.
