On the evening of September 24, the leader of Vinh Tan Ward People's Committee (Vinh City, Nghe An) said that the ward police are investigating and clarifying the incident of a mother letting her newborn baby float on Vinh River.

Initial information said that at around 4:30 p.m. the same day, people discovered a woman putting a newborn baby in a styrofoam box and letting it float on the Vinh River, through Tan Hoa block (Vinh Tan ward).

Discovering the incident, people quickly rowed boats to retrieve the styrofoam box and brought the child safely to shore.

The baby was immediately taken to Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for a health check.

It is known that the woman who let the baby drift lives in Hung Nghia commune (Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An).

“This afternoon, the mother brought her newborn baby home from Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital. When she arrived at the Vinh River area, the mother put the baby in a styrofoam box and let it float on the river. Fortunately, people were able to rescue her safely. The police have started working with the woman,” the leader of Vinh Tan Ward added.
