On October 28, the Chinese Foreign Ministry quoted Mr. Wang Yi as saying that "the road to the San Francisco summit will not be easy" when talking about the expected meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden.

In recent days, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with President Biden and top aides in Washington to prepare for the bilateral meeting, scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the Asia- Pacific Summit.

Earlier, in a meeting with his US counterpart Antony Blinken on October 26, Mr. Wang Yi hoped that the negotiations between the two countries would be "constructive" and "forward-looking".

Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed: “China and the United States share important common interests and face challenges that need to be addressed together.”

According to him, the US and China should seek to expand common ground in a cooperative direction that benefits both sides, to stabilize and bring the relationship "back to a healthy, stable and sustainable development trajectory."
