Chance to win iPhone 16 Promax when verifying biometrics at VPBank

VietNamNetVietNamNet16/11/2024

VPBank is one of the first banks to launch a program to encourage users to update their biometrics and identification documents. Customers have the opportunity to win an iPhone 16 Promax and many other attractive gifts with a total value of up to 7 billion VND.

In compliance with Circulars 17 and 18 of the State Bank of Vietnam, from January 1, 2025, banks will stop transactions with customers who are account owners, debit cards and credit cards if they have not verified their biometrics or their identification documents have expired. Customers who have not verified their biometrics with the bank can only deposit/withdraw/transfer money at the bank counter, and users cannot even use ATMs/CDMs of the interbank system to deposit/withdraw money. Other transactions on the account that could previously be done online, such as scheduling automatic payment of electricity/water/insurance bills, payment by swiping/touching, online payment on e-commerce sites, cannot be done if the account, debit card and credit card owners have not verified their biometrics. In case the identity documents expire, users will not be able to make any transactions with their accounts, debit cards and credit cards without updating new documents with the bank. This regulation shows that the control of transactions through the banking system is getting tighter and can help minimize fraudulent activities through the banking system. Banks are responsible for supporting users to register for biometrics at any time, and will not make exceptions for unverified accounts. To encourage customers to quickly verify, VPBank has just announced a gift program of up to nearly 7 billion VND for customers who perform biometric verification or update their identity documents between November 7, 2024 and January 23, 2025. Accordingly, VPBank will give each new customer and existing customer of VPBank who performs biometric verification and updates their ID documents 1 lucky draw code. On Friday evening of the following week, the bank will conduct a lucky draw to select the 7 luckiest customers to receive a special gift of 7 iPhone 16 Promax phones worth 35 million VND/phone. These 7 customers are selected from the lucky draw codes of each day of the week, ensuring that customers who receive the code on any day of the week have an equal chance of winning. The drawing will be carried out for 9 consecutive weeks, equivalent to 63 iPhone 16 Promax phones that VPBank will send to customers on this occasion. At the same time, VPBank also gives away a cashback evoucher code worth 50,000 VND to customers who open cards and accounts before October 1, 2024, perform biometric verification and update their ID documents. Accordingly, the number of bonus codes is set at a specific number of 1,000 evouchers per day, so customers who receive the code need to use it as soon as possible to receive a refund. Customers who have saved the code but have not used it yet may still lose the opportunity because others have used it all. “VPBank's big promotion on this occasion shows its determination to urge users to comply with current regulations and the desire to adopt new regulations to minimize risks and increase security for users of banking products,” a VPBank representative affirmed.
Since July 2024, VPBank has been working hard to support customers in biometric verification on the VPBank NEO app and at transaction counters. In July and August 2024 alone, VPBank transaction counters will be open all weekend to support customers. It only takes customers 1 minute to update on the app, through specific and simple instructions. In case the customer's mobile device does not support NFC, customers can go to more than 270 VPBank transaction counters nationwide to receive support through biometric data collection devices.
