The event is one of the practical activities to celebrate the 135th birthday of President Ton Duc Thang (August 20, 1888/August 20, 2023), a key leader of the Party and the Vietnamese revolution, a long-time close comrade of President Ho Chi Minh, and an exemplary model of revolutionary ethics.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Professor, Dr. Le Van Loi, Deputy Director of the Academy, stated that President Ton Duc Thang was born into a family with a rich tradition of patriotism in Ong Ho Islet, Dinh Thanh Commune, Long Xuyen Province (now My Hoa Hung Commune, Long Xuyen City, An Giang Province).

He was enlightened about the revolution early, participated in the patriotic movement, the communist movement and the international workers' movement from the 1910s and became one of the pioneering communist fighters in Vietnam.

During nearly 70 years of continuous revolutionary activities, President Ton Duc Thang was trusted by the Party and State to take on important responsibilities such as: Deputy Head of the National Assembly Standing Committee, acting Head (1946 - 1955), then Head of the National Assembly Standing Committee (1955 - 1960); Vice President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (1960 - 1969); President of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (1969-1980); Chairman of the National Committee of the Lien-Viet Front (1951 - 1955), Chairman of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (1955-1977)... In every position, he set a shining example of loyalty, dedication, and selfless efforts to complete assigned tasks.

At the seminar, the presentations and opinions of scientists focused on discussing and clarifying the life and revolutionary career of President Ton Duc Thang in the following aspects: A pioneer soldier of the workers' movement and the national liberation movement; A talented leader of the Party and State, the most representative person of the great solidarity policy of the Party and President Ho Chi Minh; An exemplary model of revolutionary ethics, a long-time close comrade in arms of President Ho Chi Minh.

Opinions emphasized that Uncle Ton - the affectionate and dear name that the people gave to President Ton Duc Thang - always had absolute faith in the path that President Ho Chi Minh had chosen, and was an excellent successor to President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary career. He spent more than 20 years (1946 - 1969) living and working closely with President Ho Chi Minh, and was "a long-time close comrade in arms of President Ho Chi Minh". President Ton Duc Thang always educated and encouraged the study of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality, and style, and throughout his life he set a shining example in studying and applying Ho Chi Minh's ideology in practice.

In his work and daily life, President Ton Duc Thang always upheld the spirit of humility, simplicity, and closeness to his comrades and fellow countrymen. His pure moral example is forever a source of pride and a great source of encouragement for cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life, especially the young generation of Vietnam, to learn from and follow.

The scientific seminar is a practical activity to commemorate and pay tribute to the great contributions of President Ton Duc Thang to the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation, and at the same time contribute to the implementation of Directive No. 05-CT/TW of the 12th Politburo on promoting the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle; Conclusion No. 01-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to promote the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle, associated with the work of building a clean and strong Party and political system, gradually realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.
