On the afternoon of October 17, at the meeting, Vice President and former President of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou and President of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man expressed their joy at meeting again a close friend of the Party, State and people of Vietnam; respectfully conveyed to Comrade Pany Yathotou the warm regards and wishes for good health from General Secretary and President To Lam; Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other leaders and former leaders of the National Assembly of Vietnam.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said that this was his first official visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic in his new position; congratulated the achievements that the Lao Party, State and people have achieved in implementing the Resolution of the 11th Party Congress and the 9th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan (2021-2025); expressed his belief that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the 12th National Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, held in early 2026, will successfully complete the set goals.
At the meeting, Vice President and former Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou expressed her delight at welcoming Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, who, on behalf of the leaders of the Party and State of Vietnam, led a delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to officially visit the Lao People's Democratic Republic and attend the 45th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA-45) as head of the legislative body; believing that the visit would contribute to further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries; and enhancing good cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
In the atmosphere of the meeting and friendly exchange, the two leaders affirmed that the Party, State and people of the two countries always attach importance to and give the highest priority to preserving, protecting and constantly cultivating the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; and wish to further promote the relationship between the two countries and the two National Assemblies to become more in-depth, effective and substantive.

The two leaders agreed that the cooperative relationship between the two countries' National Assemblies has always been strengthened and developed. The two sides are actively coordinating and implementing the Cooperation Agreement between the two National Assemblies signed in May 2022; exchanges of high-level delegations and National Assembly agencies are maintained regularly. In particular, the two sides have also organized joint supervision of important and strategic economic cooperation projects, promoting the spirit of supreme supervisory responsibility of each country's National Assembly.
About the book “50 years of relations between the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea” Lao People's Democratic Republic - Comprehensive cooperation for development", National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man said, the two sides are actively coordinating to research and compile the book. This is of important significance to summarize the development process, achievements and lessons learned to improve the effectiveness of cooperation between the two National Assemblies in the new period; in addition, to widely propagate and raise awareness of the people of Vietnam and Laos, especially the young generation, about the close relationship between the two National Assemblies of Vietnam and Laos.
National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his belief that, with the careful preparation of the Lao National Assembly, the 45th AIPA General Assembly will be a great success, contributing to enhancing the role and position of Laos in the region. The National Assembly Chairman also thanked the wholehearted support and assistance that the Lao Party, State and people have given to Vietnam, especially recently Laos has supported and assisted Vietnam in overcoming the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. Vice President Pany Yathotou highly appreciated the results of the talks between National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Saysomphone Phomvihane; congratulated Vietnam on its socio-economic achievements in the first 9 months of 2024; and hoped that Vietnam would share more experiences in its development process with Laos.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man invited Vice President and former National Assembly Chairman Pany Yathotu to visit Vietnam soon. The National Assembly Chairman wished that the solidarity, friendship, loyalty and steadfastness between Vietnam and Laos will forever be green and sustainable.
