Need to speed up site clearance progress for Tam Tien bridge project

The Tam Tien Bridge and approach road project started in 2020, with a total investment of more than 220 billion VND, a length of 4.18 km, of which the main bridge consists of 9 spans. This is a key traffic project, expected to eliminate the situation of people having to travel on unsafe bridges.

However, after 5 years of implementation, the project has only reached about 45% of its volume. The main reasons are problems in compensation, site clearance and lack of land for filling. Currently, there are about 28 plots of land that have not been handed over.

Meanwhile, every day many people still have to cross the less than 1 meter wide, seriously degraded, and potentially dangerous bridge.

Mr. Doan Van Linh, Vice Chairman of Tam Xuan Commune People's Committee, said that the locality has developed many compensation plans, recovered most of the related land area and paid money to the people. However, there are still some households that have not agreed to receive compensation. In addition, the remaining demand for land for the project is about 150,000m3, while land resources in the area are scarce.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung directed departments and branches to coordinate with Tam Xuan Commune People's Committee to promptly complete procedures, focus on resolving households with remaining problems, and ensure the legitimate rights of the people. At the same time, urgently arrange capital sources, remove difficulties in land filling, and speed up construction progress.

The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee emphasized that the Tam Tien Bridge project is very important, connecting infrastructure and promoting socio -economic development in the eastern region. The locality needs to strengthen propaganda and fully apply legal regulations to best ensure the rights of the people. Those who deliberately delay will be forced to comply with regulations.

On the same day, the delegation also inspected the progress of the Tam Giang Bridge project and Quang Trung Road (Nui Thanh Commune). These are projects that have been behind schedule for many years, causing public outrage.
