During two days (May 22 and 23), in Vinh city, Nghe An province, Military Region 4 organized the 2023 Political Teaching Cadre Competition. The competition days always received the monitoring and direction of comrades in the Party Committee Standing Committee, Military Region Command; and heads of Military Region agencies.
The contest is truly a "test" of the qualifications and capacity of the team of cadres doing political teaching work; at the same time, this is an opportunity for the team of cadres doing political teaching work to supplement valuable manuals to contribute to improving the quality of political education at the grassroots level.
During the days of the contest, the weather in Vinh city, Nghe An was extremely hot, but 43 outstanding candidates who were political officers at the regimental, brigade and equivalent levels, the Military Command (CHQS) at the district level; teachers at the Military School of the Military Region; political commissars and deputy political commissars of the Military Command at the commune level of units and localities in the entire Military Region made efforts to complete their tasks excellently. The candidates "competed" in 3 sections: Knowledge, lesson preparation, teaching practice and situation handling. The content of the lectures revolved around the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, resolutions of the Party Central Committee, the Central Military Commission; topics on studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh and topics in the political education program for officers, professional soldiers, militia and self-defense forces...

Joining the competition atmosphere, we noticed that all contestants had prepared their outlines and presentations very carefully, with vivid visual models, combining presentations with PowerPoint slideshows; the content was relevant, applied closely to reality, and had good ideological orientation. The presentation on the topic "Preventing the plots and tricks of "Peaceful evolution" of hostile forces against the Vietnamese revolution" by comrade Tran Thi Ngoc Sa, Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Command of Hoa Chau High School, Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue was highly appreciated by the jury. The practical part of the lecture convinced the jury, left a good impression, and attracted the staff and contestants to focus on watching and listening. In addition to the practical value of the topic, the structure of the lecture was tight and in-depth, in teaching, she also combined vivid image projections and presented coherently.

Contestant Hoang Van Hai, Political Commissar of Nghi Thuy Ward Military Command, Cua Lo Town, Nghe An, won first prize in the contest for political commissars of communes and wards, saying: “At this contest, we were guided by the unit commander, the Organizing Committee, and the Jury, and learned from experience about the content, form, and teaching methods to improve the effectiveness of helping listeners understand, remember, and absorb easily. Through the contest, with the knowledge I have acquired, I will continue to study, practice skills, and methods, contributing to improving the quality of political teaching at the unit.”
As the first prize winner in the competition for political cadres at the regimental and brigade levels, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Thai Son, Political Commissar of the Military Command of Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh, excitedly said: “To achieve high results, in addition to practicing and breaking away from lesson plans and lectures, I spent a lot of time researching how to prepare electronic lectures, PowerPoint presentations, images, and videos to suit the content and attract listeners. For unclear issues, I actively consulted, learned, and asked my superiors and teammates for guidance. From there, I mastered my lectures and presentation skills, contributing to improving the quality of my lectures.”

During the competition, many officers from agencies and units came to observe and learn. Many comrades carefully took notes and followed interesting details and teaching methods of the contestants. Some units also organized video recordings to make sample lectures for officers to study. Major Nguyen Trong Phu, Political Commissar of Regiment 3, Division 324, who won second prize in the competition, met with the Organizing Committee to ask for copies of all the lesson plans and lectures of the contestants to use as a "handbook" to study and improve his qualifications.

Major General Phan Van Sy, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of Military Region 4, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest, commented: "Many of the contest lectures were carefully prepared and of good quality; the presentations had beautiful effects, clearly showing the content and topics presented; 100% of the political lectures had visual educational models to support direct teaching in the hall and serve as supplementary activities, guiding discussions and reviewing after the lectures; many contestants answered 100% of the questions correctly in the cognitive test...".
The 2023 Political Teaching Cadre Competition has been spreading widely to cadres and soldiers in the armed forces of Military Region 4 and creating positive changes in awareness, responsibility and capacity for leadership, direction, organization and management of political education of Party committees and commanders of grassroots agencies and units. Through this, we continue to innovate and improve the quality and effectiveness of political education work at the unit in the new period.
