On the afternoon of October 29, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to announce and provide information about the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship.

Accordingly, towards celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025), the Ministry of Public Security will host the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship.

As planned, the tournament will take place from December 6-9 at the Quang Ninh province multi-purpose stadium (Dai Yen ward, Ha Long city).

The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship is expected to have 2 competition categories, including: The 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship in Vietnam (participants are police officers and soldiers from Asian countries, men and women of all ages and weight categories) and the Asian Police Taekwondo Festival in Vietnam (participants are children, teenagers, young people, and the elderly).

Competition events include sparring, boxing, breaking, freestyle, Taekwondo gymnastics and team competition.

Immediately after the tournament regulations were released, the World Police Taekwondo Federation announced information and posted invitations to police groups and individuals from Asian countries (expanded) to participate in the tournament on the federation's website. The registration period for the tournament is from October 13 to November 13.

According to statistics from the Organizing Committee, up to now, 44 police delegations from countries and territories in the Asia region (expanded) have registered to participate in the tournament through the website of the World Police Taekwondo Federation.

At the ceremony, the Organizing Committee also announced the logo and mascot of the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship. The mascot chosen is the Bac Ha dog - one of the "four great national dogs" of Vietnam.

Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Van Long affirmed that the 2024 Asian Police Taekwondo Open Championship held in Vietnam is a favorable opportunity to promote the image and affirm the bravery and talent of Vietnamese people in general and of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Public Security in particular to international friends.

At the same time, this is also a good opportunity to strengthen friendly cooperation, encourage and improve the quality of sports training in general and Taekwondo in particular between the Vietnam People's Public Security and the police forces of Asian countries.
