Bac Ninh: Focusing on key traffic projects

Hurry up to speed up the progress

These days, at the construction site of Ring Road 4 - Capital Region, the section passing through Bac Ninh province, hundreds of motor vehicles and construction machinery are operating busily from early morning to late night. This is a national key traffic project with a length of more than 112 km, with a total investment of nearly 86 trillion VND. The section passing through Bac Ninh province alone is 35.3 km long, passing through the wards of Thuan Thanh, Que Vo and Gia Binh commune with an allocated capital of nearly 5,200 billion VND; when completed, it will quickly connect to Noi Bai airport, key industrial parks, and northern seaports.

With the motto "where the site is, there is construction", the three bidding packages No. 14, 15, 16 of the project have been deployed simultaneously, the implementation value reaching nearly 40% of the total construction value. To speed up the progress, the Management Board of Bac Ninh Province's Traffic and Agriculture Project No. 2 is directing contractors to organize construction in 3 continuous shifts. There are currently nearly 360 engineers, workers and hundreds of construction vehicles at the construction site.

Items such as roadbed, box culverts, overpasses, and underpasses are being continuously constructed. The contractor uses modern equipment such as mobile concrete mixing stations, heavy-duty pile drivers, and cantilever technology to shorten the time while still ensuring quality. With the efforts of the investor and contractor, up to now, the road has basically completed excavation, weak soil treatment, and many sections have been asphalted; the overpass on the route has clearly taken shape. The investor is directing the contractor to speed up the progress, ensuring that all three packages are completed before December 31 this year.

At the same time, at the construction site of the new Cam Ly bridge and the railway overpass on the Kep - Ha Long railway line (abbreviated as Cam Ly bridge), contractors also mobilized machinery and human resources to speed up progress, striving to complete and put into use ahead of schedule.

The construction of the new Cam Ly bridge unit started early this year with the Railway Project Management Board (Ministry of Construction) as the investor; the total cost is nearly 800 billion VND from increased revenue and savings on regular expenditures of the central budget. The starting point of the project intersects with National Highway 37 in Cam Ly commune, the end point is in Bac Lung commune. The total length of the route is about 3,267 m. Mr. Mai Xuan Tan, Director of Management of a number of bridge and tunnel projects on National Highway 1, said that the construction of the new Cam Ly bridge unit will strengthen connectivity, improve operational capacity, ensure traffic safety, and meet transportation needs on the transport corridor of Bac Ninh province and Hai Phong city to localities in the key economic region of the North. Clearly identifying that importance, the unit directed contractors to arrange engineers and workers to deploy construction phases in parallel, from pier foundations, abutments to preparing for the installation of steel box girders. At the construction site, contractors are working hard to make up for lost time. Without high-pressure lamps, workers are working under the lights of bulldozers and rollers. So far, the construction of the body, piers on land and in the river, casting bridge girders and filling the roadbed, etc., is estimated to have reached 20% of the total construction volume, striving to complete by the end of this year.

Many other key traffic projects such as: Kenh Vang Bridge and the approach roads at both ends of the bridge in Gia Binh and Luong Tai communes; provincial road 293 extension, from the intersection of Bac Lung commune to Nghia Phuong commune; construction of a new Xuong Giang bridge unit, Bac Giang ward; construction of a new connecting road from provincial road 292 through An Ha Industrial Park, Tien Luc commune to the Northeast beltway, Bac Giang ward... are also being accelerated by contractors.

Determined to reach the finish line on time

According to the functional sector, this year, the whole province has about 30 key provincial-level traffic projects with a total investment of thousands of billions of VND from the state budget. These are all traffic connecting routes between areas in the province and neighboring provinces, promoting investment attraction and socio-economic development in the area.

In order for the projects to be completed and put into effect soon, since the beginning of the year, the Provincial People's Committee has directed investors to closely coordinate with localities to focus on removing obstacles for each project, speeding up the progress of site clearance. Accordingly, a series of projects have had their site clearance problems resolved by localities recently. Specifically, up to now, the site clearance work for Ring Road 4 - Capital Region, the section passing through Bac Ninh province has been 99.98% completed, with only 695 m² remaining due to the property of households that have not been handed over. The site clearance work for the construction of the new Xuong Giang bridge unit ensures the requirements set out.

Along with the above solutions, the investor units also assigned staff to closely monitor each project, urge contractors to speed up progress, and ensure the quality of each item. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Duong, Director of the Bac Ninh Province Traffic and Agriculture Project Management Board No. 2, said that in order for the project to be completed on time and earlier than planned, the unit requested the contractor to commit to speeding up the progress, at the same time mobilizing maximum means and human resources to divide into many construction teams; encouraging workers and engineers to work on holidays, work overtime to make up for the progress.

It is known that recently, overcoming the unfavorable weather conditions of continuous heavy rain, some contractors have been flexible in the construction of bridge projects. That is, arranging human resources for construction of on-land items that can be done in the camp first, such as welding steel reinforcement, pouring bridge beams, bending bridge pier iron... With the high determination of investors and contractors, the province's key traffic projects are being urgently accelerated, approaching the finish line, contributing to realizing the goal of making traffic infrastructure a competitive advantage of the locality in the coming years.
