On September 12, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Saint Petersburg.

Held on the sidelines of a meeting of top security officials from BRICS member states, the meeting focused on border issues. The two sides discussed important issues along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to stabilise and improve bilateral relations.
The Indian Ministry of External Affairs stressed that both sides agreed to work expeditiously and intensify efforts to complete disengagement in the disputed areas. Mr. Doval stressed the importance of maintaining peace and respecting the LAC for normalization of relations. Both sides need to fully comply with the bilateral agreements, protocols and understandings reached between the two governments.
Besides, the officials of the two countries also discussed global and regional issues, stressing that the India-China relationship is very important to both countries and the international community.
The BRICS summit is scheduled to take place in Kazan from October 22-24, with Prime Minister Modi attending. Earlier in the day, Indian National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval met Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Putin lauded the development of the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Russia and stressed the importance of security issues in bilateral relations.
