Chevening Scholarships cover the full cost of one year of study for a master's degree at over 150 universities in the UK, and provide scholars with the opportunity to access professional development programmes and cultural experiences in the UK.
Chevening Scholarships seek candidates from all walks of life and across a wide range of industries. Applicants need to demonstrate a commitment and skills to making a positive difference, and they need to demonstrate how a master’s degree in the UK will help them achieve this goal.
To be eligible for a Chevening scholarship, applicants must be Vietnamese citizens, have graduated from university with good academic records, have at least 2 years of work experience (equivalent to 2,800 working hours) after graduating from university, and commit to returning to Vietnam to work for at least 2 years after completing the course.
Applications must be submitted by October 7 at www.chevening.org/apply.
In the 2026-2027 academic year, the British Government plans to continue to provide about 20 scholarships for Vietnam.
This school year, the application requirements have changed a lot compared to previous years, including:
● Work experience is only counted after the date of university graduation, experience during study time will not be counted.
● While the essay topics remain the same, the questions have been updated and will include additional questions. This will allow students to provide more real-life examples, limit the use of artificial intelligence in their answers, and make it easier to link course choices to UK priority areas.
● The word limit for each question will be 300 words, instead of 500 words as before.
● Applicants must link their course choice to one of the following areas: Promoting growth and prosperity; Building resilience in the face of climate change; Enhancing security and stability; Supporting inclusive and effective development for society.
● If applying from an ODA recipient country, the applicant must reside in that country. This country does not necessarily have to be the applicant's country of nationality.
