In today's trading session (August 13), the general indices on the stock market were in red. In the morning session, the cash flow into the market was quite slow, especially in large-cap stocks; red covered the market, green only appeared for a few minutes at nearly 10 o'clock.
At the end of the morning trading session, VN-Index fell 5.49 points to 1,224.79 points. The red color continued to maintain in the early afternoon session, at times the VN-Index fell more than 7 points, close to 1,220 points. However, near the end of the session, increased demand for some pillar stocks helped the index representing the floor return to the reference level and show green color.

At the end of the session, VN-Index edged up 0.14 points (0.01%), stopping at 1,230.42 points; meanwhile, VN30-Index fell 2.72 points (-0.21%) to 1,268.72 points. Although the market increased, stocks with falling prices dominated, with 234 stocks going down and 162 stocks going up.
In the VN30 group, the number of stocks decreasing in price was nearly twice as high as increasing in price (16 stocks and 9 stocks). The number of industries increasing in points can be counted on the fingers with the following sectors: telecommunications; banking; food, beverage and tobacco; transportation; pharmaceuticals-biology; real estate.
Supporting the market's rise in this session were banking stocks, with 5/10 stocks contributing the most to the VN-Index, including VCB, NAB, HDB, CTG, LPB; of which VCB contributed nearly 2.37 points with a price increase of 1.94%.
However, in the declining industry groups, the decrease was not strong, generally below 1%. Liquidity in the market remained low. Only VND13,000 billion was changed hands on the entire floor. Foreign investors continued to be net buyers. This group bought more than VND1,900 billion and sold more than VND1,580 billion.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, liquidity was also not high with less than VND1,000 billion changed hands. At the end of the session, the HNX-Index stopped at 230.18 points, down 0.59 points (-0.25%); the HNX30-Index decreased 1.03 points (-0.21%), to 500.25 points.
