On July 14, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 88/QD-XPHC to fine the online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen for publishing articles that were not in accordance with the principles and purposes stated in the press license, causing serious consequences.
For this violation, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Information and Communications imposed an administrative penalty on the online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen with a fine of 65 million VND; at the same time, it imposed an additional penalty of revoking the right to use the Press License No. 75/GP-BTTTT dated February 26, 2020 issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications, for a period of 3 months from July 14, 2023. The online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen is required to remove news and articles with content that does not comply with the principles and purposes stated in the press license.
Previously, on June 30, the Inspectorate of the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 84/QD-XPHC on administrative sanctions against the online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen (Zing News).
According to this decision, the online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen did not comply with the content stated in the press operation license issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications. The magazine used two domain names "news.zing.vn" and "zing.vn" which were not in the granted license to link to the domain name zingnews.vn. This is not in accordance with the content stated in the license to operate the specialized website Tri Thuc Cuoc Song So issued by the Press Department (Ministry of Information and Communications).
The online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen published and distributed false information that caused serious consequences and made accusations without a legally effective court verdict. The magazine made corrections and apologies at the wrong time on some articles and did not create a separate section on the homepage to make corrections and apologies.
According to Decision No. 84/QD-XPHC, the total fine imposed on the Online Knowledge Magazine is 178.5 million VND. The Online Knowledge Magazine is required to correct, apologize and remove false information and information that violates the law that it has posted and distributed.
Thus, the online magazine Tri Thuc Truc Tuyen was administratively fined 243.5 million VND and suspended for 3 months from July 14, 2023.
