More than 560 players participated in the 1st Nghe An Open Youth and Children's Chess Tournament

On the morning of August 24, in Vinh city, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union, the Council of the Nghe An Provincial Youth Union in coordination with the Nghe Chess Club organized the first Nghe An Provincial Open Youth and Children's Chess Tournament with the participation of more than 560 young players.

The first Nghe An Province Youth and Children's Chess Tournament aims to create an intellectual and useful playground for students at the beginning of the new school year, helping them have the opportunity to exchange, practice logical thinking and healthy sports competition skills.

The tournament is open to members of clubs and independent athletes in Nghe An province and neighboring provinces. For players who have won a National Medal, those aged 10 and under will be required to add at least 2 years to their age when competing (depending on the player's achievements), for example, a 10-year-old player will compete with a 12-year-old independent athlete who has not won a National Medal. Players over 10 years old will register to compete in the OPEN group.

Participating in the tournament, contestants will compete in two categories: Rapid Chess (each player has 15 minutes to complete the game) and 8-game Swiss system.

The tournament is divided into 14 competition groups including: Age group U8 - Female, U10 - Female, U12 - Female, Open Female, U5 - Male, U6 - Male, U7 - Male, U8 - Male, U9 - Male, U10 - Male, U11 - Male, U12 - Male, U14 - Male and Open group - Male.

The activity not only creates a healthy and useful playground for exchange and learning, but also arouses passion for chess. This is also an opportunity to discover and nurture young talents, contributing to promoting the chess movement among school-age children in the whole province.

Regarding the awards, for individuals, the first prize winner will receive a cup, medal, certificate and a prize worth 700,000 VND along with gifts from the Organizing Committee.

Second Prize, the player will be awarded a medal, certificate, prize money worth 400,000 VND and gifts from the Organizing Committee.

Third Prize, the player will be awarded a medal, certificate, prize money worth 300,000 VND and gifts from the Organizing Committee. The Encouragement Prize will be awarded a trophy, certificate and gifts from the Organizing Committee.

For teams, the teams that win First, Second, Third, and Third prizes in each age group will receive medals from the Organizing Committee.

On this occasion, the Organizing Committee also awarded 5 scholarships to 5 students with difficult circumstances participating in the tournament.
