Fun and healthy thanks to volleyball

A few years ago, the volleyball training movement in the communes and wards of Bac Ly, Loc Ninh, Quang Phu (now Dong Thuan ward) had just started from a few small groups in some villages and residential areas, mainly women who loved to exercise and practiced together after work.

From those “experimental” playing sessions, women’s associations quickly grasped the needs and mobilized the establishment of official clubs. Up to now, most villages and residential groups in Dong Thuan ward have volleyball clubs, maintaining regular practice 3-4 sessions/week, some places practice almost every day of the week.

Ms. Tran Thi Van, Head of the Women's Association of Group 5, Bac Ly cluster, Dong Thuan ward, said: The movement started around 2021-2022 with the participation of a large number of members and women of many ages.

Every day, the women practice at the village cultural house, the TDP and many residential areas. Not only do they become more active, agile, and their health improves significantly, the movement also strengthens solidarity and attracts women to voluntarily participate in the association. In 2025, the TDP5 Women's Association admitted 15 new members.

“We have just participated in a volleyball exchange program between branches to practically welcome the 1st Congress of Dong Thuan Ward Party Committee, term 2025-2030. The activity brought a joyful and exciting atmosphere, received the attention of local leaders and enthusiastic response from many people,” Ms. Van excitedly shared.

Ms. Dinh Thi Tuyet Thu, a Front specialist and member of the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of Dong Thuan Ward, said that the volleyball movement received a very positive response from female members. Women's branches regularly maintain training activities.

Based on understanding the needs, interests and enthusiasm of members, the Ward Women's Union has organized exchange and competition activities between branches, creating a vibrant, cohesive atmosphere and spreading the movement widely throughout the area.

Most recently, the Association organized an exchange tournament to welcome the Party Congress of the ward; in the near future, it will continue to implement the tournament towards the anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, contributing to maintaining and promoting the spread of the movement.

Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy said: "The movement of practicing and exchanging volleyball among women has contributed to connecting members, creating a healthy playground, improving health, suitable for the physical condition of women of many ages. This is a simple and easy-to-practice sport activity, both improving spiritual life, strengthening solidarity, and contributing to the good implementation of the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho". In the coming time, the Union will study appropriate forms of exchange to spread the volleyball movement to a large number of members and women in the area".

Volleyball is a sport suitable for women of all ages. Regular practice helps women improve their health, while bringing joy, confidence, and creating cohesion among members.

Not only limited to women members, volleyball also receives enthusiastic support from the people, creating a healthy community activity.

Women's Association of Residential Group 4, Loc Ninh Cluster, Dong Thuan Ward, is one of the units with a vibrant volleyball movement. Currently, the female members are actively practicing to prepare for the tournament to celebrate the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dieu Men, a fan of this sport, shared: “Although I have not had the opportunity to directly participate in training, I have not missed any of the women's matches in the exchange and competition tournaments. Thanks to the sports movement, especially volleyball, the lives of women are more joyful and exciting, and the neighborhood relationship has become closer.”

The powerful smashes and the hearty laughter on the volleyball court are clear evidence of a healthy-happy-solidarity movement. From simple practice sessions in the cultural house yard, volleyball has become a bridge connecting women, contributing to building a rich cultural life and spreading positive spirit in the community. We believe that with the solidarity and enthusiasm of the members, the movement will continue to develop, bringing joy and new achievements to the women of Dong Thuan ward.
