“Red Seeds” Sprouting from the Cave

After the success of the August Revolution in 1945, some Kinh and other ethnic people entered the land of the Ruc people to live and cultivate. During the process of production and cultural exchange, many Ruc people left their caves to build huts and huts to live.

Also at this time, some Ruc people had access to Party, government and Border Guard cadres, so they soon became enlightened about the revolution. They were able to work in political organizations in communes and villages or follow the Border Guard to perform their duties and then were admitted into the Party.

Among the first five Ruc people admitted to the Party was Mr. Cao Ngoc Mien, father of Mr. Cao Ngoc Man (who has 49 years of Party membership). Mr. Mien was admitted to the Party in 1954. “My father was one of the first Ruc people admitted to the Party.

Before that, my father was educated and guided by the Border Guard and commune cadres, so he soon became enlightened about the revolution, and was then appointed to work as a commune Youth Union cadre. After becoming a party member, my father, together with the Border Guard, commune cadres and a number of outstanding people, continued to mobilize people to leave caves to build houses and develop production.

In 1962, the Party cell was established in Yen Hop village with 5 party members, with Mr. Tran Hong as the Party cell secretary. During this time, in the Ruc area, the Hop Hoa Agricultural Production Cooperative and Yen Hop Agricultural Production Cooperative were established to gather people to develop livestock farming, open up land to grow upland rice, corn, cassava, etc. to fight hunger and serve the revolution.

In 1974, Mr. Man was assigned to work as an accountant for the Yen Hop Agricultural Production Cooperative. His task was to count the number of buffaloes, cows, rice, corn and to keep track of the members' attendance. Seeing that Mr. Man was dynamic and enthusiastic about his work, the Party cell trained and admitted him to the Party in October 1976. After that, he was assigned the important responsibility of being the deputy director, then director of the cooperative and Secretary of the Yen Hop village Party cell.

Mr. Cao Ngoc Man recalled: “The day I was admitted to the Party, I was very happy. When I became a Party member, I continued to study and practice. As the head of the cooperative and the Party cell secretary, I not only worked in production but also propagated and mobilized people to actively expand the land for growing upland rice, cassava, corn, and raising buffaloes and cows to fight hunger for the people and contribute to supporting the South in fighting the enemy.”

Under the leadership of the Party cell headed by Mr. Cao Ngoc Man, the lives of the people of Yen Hop village have improved, and many backward customs have been gradually eliminated. The people in the village actively developed production and invested in their children's education. Later, Mr. Man worked as a police officer for 6 years, and as Secretary of the Yen Hop village Party cell for another 6 years before retiring in 2012.

Mr. Cao Ngoc Man’s family is a rare case in the Ruc region where all four generations have been party members. From a place with “no party cell or party members”, up to now, the Yen Hop village party cell has grown to 12 party members… To be what it is today, there is a great contribution from generations in Mr. Man’s family”, said Major Dinh Lam Vien, an officer of the Mass Mobilization Team, Ca Xeng Border Guard Station.

Promoting family tradition

Mr. Cao Ngoc Man's family has 10 children. Throughout the process of raising his children and grandchildren, he has always been an exemplary father and grandfather, always reminding his children and grandchildren to study hard to escape poverty, do good deeds, and be useful for themselves, their families and their village.

Promoting family tradition, Mr. Man's two sons have made efforts to train and were admitted to the Party, including: Cao Xuan Manh (born in 1983), Deputy Head of the Security Team of Yen Hop village; Cao Xuan Luat (born in 1997), a demobilized soldier.

Mr. Cao Xuan Manh confided: “At home, my father loves his wife and children very much but is also very strict. He always teaches us good things and the right things. In economic development, he actively clears the fields, plants forests, and takes the lead in growing rice and developing livestock for his children and grandchildren to learn and follow.” Thanks to following his father’s example, he and 8/10 of his children have now escaped poverty. Mr. Man and his wife are old but still raise 4 cows, 3 buffaloes, and grow 6 sao of rice.

The fourth generation of Mr. Man's family to be admitted to the Party is his grandson Cao Xuan Nhan (born in 1997), the head of Yen Hop village. After finishing 7th grade, due to difficult circumstances, Nhan decided to drop out of school and follow his parents to work on the fields. Thanks to his hard work, exemplary behavior, and active participation in movements in the village, Nhan was admitted to the Party in 2021. A year later, this young man was elected as the head of the village by the people of Yen Hop village.

Mr. Cao Xuan Nhan confided: “Thanks to the Party cell and my grandfather’s guidance and training, I was admitted to the Party and became the village chief. In my position, I often go to each household to propagate people to limit alcohol consumption, eliminate backward customs to focus on planting forests, growing rice, working for hire, developing livestock, investing in children’s education”… Currently, Nhan’s family has 3 hectares of land growing acacia and cajuput trees, 2 sao of land growing rice, and raising dozens of poultry to develop the economy.

Under the leadership of the Party Committee and authorities at all levels, up to now, the material and spiritual life of the people of Yen Hop village has increasingly improved. The whole village has 26 hectares of forest land, 6 hectares of corn land, over 100 buffaloes, cows and hundreds of poultry. In the village, there is 1 person working as a full-time police officer, 1 person working as a teacher and many children studying at university, college and vocational training. Of the 53 households in Yen Hop village, 21 have escaped poverty...
