Mistaken transfer of 270 million VND for a lunch: Female customer gets her money back

On the afternoon of December 1, at the Lam Son Ward Police Station, Thanh Hoa City, Thanh Hoa Province, Mr. Hoang Hiep (restaurant owner) handed over the money that female customer HTTT (born in 1983, residing in Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa) mistakenly transferred after having lunch at his family's restaurant.

According to Mr. Hiep, Ms. T's lunch bill was 270,000 VND, but Ms. T mistakenly transferred 270 million VND.

At the meeting, after checking that Ms. T's information was correct, the restaurant owner's representative transferred the excess amount of 269,730,000 VND back to Ms. T.

The handover was witnessed by the police. At the same time, Ms. T. made a commitment to receive the full amount of money.

The restaurant owner said that thanks to the press and social media, he found the above mentioned customer. However, in recent days, he has also received a lot of conflicting information saying that this is a form of advertising for the restaurant.

"I am very sad because my family's restaurant has been in operation for nearly 40 years. I posted the information online only hoping to find the customer, not for any other purpose," Hiep shared.

Previously, at around 1:37 p.m. on November 24, a customer ate at a restaurant in Lam Son ward, Thanh Hoa city, and spent 270,000 VND but mistakenly transferred 270 million VND.

Due to the large number of customers coming to eat at the restaurant, when discovered, the customer had already left. Wanting to return the money to the customer, the restaurant owner posted information on his personal page and social media groups to find the absent-minded customer.

On November 30, after reading the above information, Ms. HTTT contacted Mr. Hiep. At the same time, she proved her personal information, the time of the meal and transferred money at the restaurant to request a refund of the amount of money that had been transferred by mistake.

Through extracting the camera footage and comparing the information provided by Ms. T., Mr. Hiep determined that this was the customer who transferred the wrong money.
