On the morning of January 19, within the framework of his official visit to Hungary, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Hungarian President Katalin Novak.
At the meeting, President Katalin Novak warmly welcomed the official visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese Government, considering this an important milestone in the comprehensive partnership between Hungary and Vietnam, and highly appreciated the role and position of Vietnam in the region and the world.
Ms. Katalin Novak affirmed that Hungary always considers Vietnam as the most important partner in Southeast Asia and hopes that the cooperative relationship with Vietnam will continue to develop extensively in all fields on the basis of mutual respect, becoming a model in East-West cooperation.
The Hungarian President also shared her personal feelings for the country and people of Vietnam.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his pleasure to visit the beautiful country of Hungary and congratulated the great achievements Hungary has made in the process of socio-economic development and European integration.
Expressing gratitude for the warm and respectful reception that the Hungarian leaders and people gave to the delegation, the Prime Minister affirmed that in implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of international relations, Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen relations with traditional friends, including Hungary, a priority partner in the Central Eastern Europe region.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh informed President Katalin Novak of the important results achieved during the talks between the two prime ministers, including major orientations to promote the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Hungary in all fields.
President Novak Katalin suggested that the two sides closely coordinate to implement the agreements reached during the visit in order to make the most of the existing potential and space to further promote cooperation between the two countries in all fields: politics, economics - trade - investment, education - training, culture, people-to-people exchange between the two countries...

Regarding politics and diplomacy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the two sides continue to increase contacts and exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially high-level ones, as well as between ministries, sectors and localities to enhance political trust and mutual understanding, as a foundation to promote and expand bilateral cooperation in all aspects.
The Hungarian President expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh for conveying the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong and affirmed that he will soon visit Vietnam in 2024.
The two leaders agreed that economic, trade and investment cooperation plays an important role and is the driving force to promote bilateral relations in the coming time.
In that spirit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked President Katalin Novak to encourage Hungarian enterprises to promote business cooperation and joint investment with Vietnamese enterprises, especially in areas where Hungary has strengths such as pharmaceuticals, animal husbandry, food processing, renewable energy, water management, etc.
The Hungarian President suggested that the two sides soon coordinate to organize the 10th Meeting of the Vietnam-Hungary Joint Committee on Economic Cooperation during the President's upcoming visit to Vietnam.
Regarding education and training, the two sides welcomed the positive results achieved in the past in this traditional field of cooperation, with nearly 1,000 Vietnamese students currently studying at Hungarian universities with scholarships granted by the Hungarian Government, and highly appreciated the effective direct cooperation between universities and training institutions of the two countries.

Regarding cooperation at international forums, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Katalin Novak agreed to continue maintaining contacts on the sidelines of multilateral forums, closely coordinate and support each other at international organizations, especially the United Nations, the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) - European Union (EU) mechanism to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
The two leaders also agreed to strengthen cooperation to deal with new global challenges such as climate change, food security, population aging, etc.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude for the support of the Hungarian authorities at all levels for the Vietnamese community in Hungary in recent times and hoped that the Vietnamese community would continue to be given favorable conditions to stabilize their lives, integrate more deeply into the host society, and make many positive contributions to the socio-economic development of Hungary, as well as the good traditional friendship between Vietnam and Hungary.
