What are the standards for selecting nursing candidates to work in Germany?

The Department of Overseas Labor Management (Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs) has just announced the plan to select, train and send Vietnamese candidates to study and work in Germany in the field of general nursing (including caregivers for the elderly, the sick, and children) for the 6th term of 2024-2025. This is a cooperation agreement on the project "Mutual benefit - Selecting Vietnamese students to become future nurses in the Federal Republic of Germany" between the Department of Overseas Labor Management, the German International Cooperation Organization and the Center for Employment and Foreign Human Resources under the German Federal Labor Agency.

People who have graduated from secondary school, college, university in nursing or completed 1 year of nursing, general practitioner, physical therapy... can apply.

The number of candidates selected is 120 nationwide. Candidates are Vietnamese citizens from 19 to 30 years old, as of June 11, 2024 (date of birth from May 1, 1994 - May 1, 2005), have graduated from high school, have literature, foreign language, mathematics, a natural science subject (biology, physics, chemistry) and a social science subject (history, geography) with a minimum average score of 5 in all years of grades 10, 11, 12. Or candidates have graduated from intermediate level, college, university majoring in nursing or have completed at least one year of college, university program majoring in nursing, general practitioner, physical therapy and rehabilitation, midwifery, pharmacist in Vietnam. Upon admission, students will participate in a 12-month German language course (expected from June 2024 to July 2025) to level B2 in Hanoi. The project will cover the first exam fee to obtain a German B1 certificate. In addition to free accommodation, students will also receive a support of 36 euros/month (about 960,000 VND) to organize meals. When arriving in Germany, students will participate in a 3-year training course to become general nurses. After successfully completing the course, students will be granted a national certificate, be able to work and be considered for permanent residence in Germany according to the laws of this country. During their apprenticeship at German training and reception facilities, trainees receive a minimum apprenticeship salary: 1,300 euros/month (equivalent to VND 34.7 million) in the first year, 1,400 euros/month (equivalent to VND 37.3 million) in the second year and 1,500 euros/month (equivalent to VND 40 million) in the third year. After graduating and being granted a national certificate, trainees are entitled to work with the same salary as German citizens and social welfare regimes according to the provisions of this country's law. Candidates can refer to information and register at http://giztriplewinvietnam.org and the website of the Department of Overseas Labor Management (http://forms.gle/qSY3hqwhUoYyf2j97). Then, candidates submit directly or by post to the Department of Overseas Labor Management, 41B Ly Thai To, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. The deadline is May 5. The first round of interviews is expected to take place online from May 13 to May 21. Candidates whose application documents meet the requirements will be invited to attend a face-to-face interview organized by the Department of Overseas Labor Management, the German International Cooperation Organization, and the German Center for Employment and Foreign Human Resources.
