The State Council of Professors has just announced a list of 615 candidates from 28 professional and interdisciplinary professor councils recognized as meeting the standards for the title of professor and associate professor in 2024. Of these, there are 45 professor candidates and 570 associate professor candidates.

Can Tho University has the most professors

Considering the number of professors and associate professors by field and interdisciplinary field, economics has an overwhelming number over the remaining fields with 100 candidates recognized as qualified.

The medical sector also has the second highest number of professors and associate professors with 71 candidates. Notably, many of these 71 candidates are currently working at hospitals and research institutes. Hanoi Medical University leads in the number of recognized candidates but has no professor candidates.

Basic sciences such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology have a relatively high number of qualified candidates compared to other fields. Only literature this year did not have any candidates registered.

There are 6 majors with no candidates registered for the title of professor. 17/28 majors, 100% of candidates registered for the title of professor and associate professor.

In terms of workplace, Can Tho University has the largest number of qualified candidates for the title of professor and associate professor in this year's review with 26 people. Of which, there are 4 professors and 22 associate professors. In 2023, Can Tho University also has the largest number of candidates when considering individual schools.

The Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, including the Hanoi University of Science and Technology, has 23 candidates recognized as qualified. This number is equivalent to the Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

The 10 schools and institutes with the largest number of recognized candidates this year have changed significantly compared to last year. Except for the leading position of Can Tho University, the remaining positions have changed significantly.

This year, although there were 100 economics candidates recognized as qualified, many universities specializing in economics were absent from the top 10.

Instead, there are technical schools such as Transport and Construction University of Hanoi. This year, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City is the only economic school in the top 10.

Hanoi leads

In terms of hometown, Hanoi leads as the locality with the most candidates recognized as meeting the standards of professor and associate professor this year with 60 people. Thanh Hoa ranks second with 44 candidates.

In the top 10 localities, the Red River Delta has 5 provinces and cities, the North Central Coast and the South Central Coast have 5 localities.

It is worth noting that by province, most candidates are not currently working in these provinces but are living in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

For example, none of the candidates from Ha Tinh and Nam Dinh work in these provinces. Most of the candidates are currently working in universities and research institutes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Similarly, most of the candidates with Thanh Hoa hometown are currently working in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, only one candidate is working in Thanh Hoa. This candidate is proposed to be recognized as an associate professor in the field of physical education and sports, currently working at Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Thua Thien Hue and Nghe An also have only a few candidates working at universities located in the area.
