According to information from the Organizing Committee, on December 21, more than 100,000 people registered to visit the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 taking place at Gia Lam airport (Long Bien district, Hanoi).
Many people traveled hundreds of kilometers from Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, etc. to visit the exhibition.
After nearly 3 hours of traveling by car from Bac Giang, Mr. Dinh Cong Chat, Vice President of the Interprovincial Veterans Club and his teammates arrived at Gia Lam airport.
“It took our group more than an hour to queue up to enter the exhibition area. Although the long journey and waiting in line made some people feel tired, when entering the exhibition area, everyone was excited to see modern weapons from countries around the world,” said Mr. Chat.
When witnessing modern weapons and equipment from Vietnam as well as many countries in the world, Mr. Chat and tens of thousands of other veterans were extremely excited.
This shows the attraction of the exhibition and the potential of Vietnam's defense industry.
Similarly, Mr. Tran Tuong Ha (81 years old, veteran of Quang Trung ward, Thai Nguyen city, Thai Nguyen province) shared that in nearly 20 years of fighting and working in the army, this was the first time he had seen so many modern weapons.
“During the war against the French, the modern weapon we used was the Bazooka gun.
During the war against the US, there were more modern weapons such as SAM-2 missiles and MiG-21 fighter jets. At this exhibition, there are many advanced weapons such as drones. This is a great step forward for Vietnam's National Defense and we feel very proud," Mr. Ha shared.
After a tour of Vietnam's modern weapons and equipment, Mr. Ha and his teammates were extremely proud of the growth of the Vietnam People's Army.
At 7am, Nguyen Khanh Linh (21 years old, from Ha Giang, a third-year student at a university in Hanoi) and her friend arrived at Gia Lam airport. After 2 hours of waiting in line, Khanh Linh was able to enter the exhibition area.
After a tour of the weapons in the outdoor display area, Khanh Linh was very excited. Linh confided that since her high school days, she has had a passion for military weapons.
The female student can list a series of modern weapons and equipment of Vietnam such as SU-30MK2 aircraft in the sky, Kilo submarines under the sea, S-300 air defense missile system on land, T-90S main battle tank, etc.
What Linh is most excited about at this exhibition are the UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) made in Vietnam.
Linh commented that suicide UAVs are a new combat weapon in recent years, bringing high efficiency. The fact that Vietnam can manufacture these weapons has demonstrated the strong and outstanding development of the defense industry.
“Seeing the modern weapons that Vietnam has manufactured and produced, our young generation feels extremely proud of the growth of the Vietnam People's Army,” Khanh Linh said excitedly.
Vietnam Defence Expo 2024 is hosted by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence. The exhibition takes place from December 19 to 22 at Gia Lam military airport, Long Bien, Hanoi.
This is an activity in a series of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. This year's exhibition is many times larger than the first one in 2022, with a total area of over 100,000m2 (indoors are 15,000m2 and outdoors are over 20,000m2).
