The Ministry of Health has just planned to deploy a measles vaccination campaign in 2024 in 18 provinces and cities with 135 districts in the North - Central - South regions.

The campaign aims to achieve the goal of 95% of children in the vaccination target group who have not received enough doses of vaccine as prescribed in risk areas and areas with measles cases/measles outbreaks being vaccinated.

1 dose of vaccine. The campaign will run from now until the end of 2024, as soon as the vaccine is available.

According to Mr. Hoang Minh Duc, Director of the Department of Preventive Medicine, since the end of 2023, the World Health Organization has issued a notice that many countries in the world have an increase in the number of measles cases and warned that Vietnam may have a measles outbreak. Therefore, from the beginning of 2024, the Ministry of Health has had a plan to supplement and catch up on vaccines in the expanded immunization program, including measles.

Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has recorded more than 2,000 measles cases, of which more than 500 cases were recorded in Ho Chi Minh City.
