According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a low pressure area has formed in the central East Sea. At 7:00 a.m. on August 15, the low pressure area was located at about 13.5-14.5 degrees North latitude; 113.5-114.5 degrees East longitude. It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, this low pressure area will move slowly in a North-Northwest direction and is likely to strengthen into a tropical depression.
Warning from now until August 24, there will be thunderstorms, tornadoes, strong gusts of wind at sea; widespread heavy rain with high risk of tornadoes, lightning, flash floods, landslides, localized flooding in the Northern region, Thanh Hoa - Hue, the Central Highlands and the South.
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 5525/BNNMT-DD dated August 14, 2025 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and to proactively respond to natural disasters in the coming days; The Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue requests departments, branches, People's Committees of communes, wards and related units to implement the following contents:
For People's Committees of coastal communes and wards with fishing activities: Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of strong winds and big waves at sea; notify captains and owners of vehicles and vessels operating at sea to proactively prevent and have appropriate production plans, ensuring safety of people and property; maintain communication to promptly handle bad situations that may occur.
Prepare forces and means to deploy rescue work when there is a situation.
For People's Committees of communes and wards in the plains, midlands and mountainous areas: Closely monitor warning bulletins, forecasts and developments of heavy rain, whirlwinds, lightning, flash floods, landslides and inundation; proactively deploy response measures and minimize damage.
Thanh Hoa Newspaper and Radio - Television Station, Thanh Hoa Coastal Information Station and grassroots information systems increase information on weather developments and natural disasters to authorities at all levels, owners of vehicles operating at sea and people to proactively prevent and respond.
The provincial Hydrometeorological Station closely monitors, forecasts, warns, and promptly informs about weather and natural disaster developments to proactively deploy response measures.
Departments, branches, People's Committees of communes, wards and related units organize serious duty, regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Civil Defense.
