Tran Van Can is one of the leading artists who has brought to modern Vietnamese fine arts a very unique and national-identity artistic style.
With his constant efforts, Tran Van Can became one of the "four leading painters" of Vietnamese fine arts, along with Nguyen Gia Tri, To Ngoc Van, and Nguyen Tuong Lan.
Many of his works are considered models of modern Vietnamese painting such as: "Em Thuy," "Goi dau," "Tat nuoc dong chiem," "Nu quan van bien"... Among them, the painting "Em Thuy," created in 1943, is considered the pinnacle of Tran Van Can's art and also one of the pinnacles of Vietnamese painting.
In 1996, he was posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts. Painter Tran Van Can was born on August 13, 1910, 115 years ago./.
