On September 6, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar affirmed that the absence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the G20 Summit was not unusual and had nothing to do with the South Asian country.

In an exclusive interview with ANI , External Affairs Minister Jaishankar stressed that at various times, the Group of 20 (G20) has witnessed the absence of some Presidents or Prime Ministers. This is the view of that country.

According to the Indian Foreign Minister, although the country holds the G20 Presidency while the world is facing many difficulties such as the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, climate change, debt, the North-South divide and the East-West polarization becoming more evident, New Delhi is still trying to find common ground.

"India has a reputation for being a very constructive and well-intentioned participant. Everyone came to the conference in a very serious spirit," he said.

Mr. Jaishankar also assessed that the issues raised at the G20 Summit were not new.

"These issues have been 'incubated' for 8-9 months and have been pushed forward by the G20 ministers or senior officials. It is really about 16-18 processes coming together to create a summit," the Indian foreign minister said.

According to Foreign Minister Jaishankar, there are many problems facing the G20 and one of the important messages is to focus on the Southern Hemisphere.

In addition, there is a larger context of a very chaotic global environment, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the negative impact of the conflict in Ukraine, debt issues, and the current climate change situation that is also putting a lot of pressure on the global economy.

The G20 summit was held in New Delhi from September 9-10.
