Online discussion: Choosing safe medicine for parents

Elderly people often take many types of medicine every day, but not everyone knows how to use them correctly and safely.

In old age, many parents have to use many types of medicine at the same time, from cardiovascular, blood pressure to bone and joint, digestive... However, self-medication, confusion of active ingredients, missed doses or uncontrolled combination with functional foods are silently causing unfortunate risks to the health of the elderly.

How can parents take the right medicine, in the right dose and safely every day? How can children listen and support their parents better, especially when they rarely complain or are afraid to speak up? And what is the role of the pharmacy in accompanying families in taking care of the health of the elderly?

In order to provide a comprehensive perspective and practical solutions for the community, at 9:00 a.m. on July 24, Dan Tri newspaper organized an online discussion with the topic "Choosing safe medicine for parents", with the participation of two guests:

The seminar also introduced new solutions such as smart medicine boxes, dose reminder applications, personalized services, etc. that are being deployed to support the elderly in using medicine more safely and effectively.

The program will answer a series of practical questions from the audience about stopping medication on their own, buying medication online, the risk of drug interactions, and early warning signs when the elderly experience complications.

In particular, the seminar will emphasize the connection between doctors - pharmacies - families in forming a "safe triangle" to provide complete medical care for the elderly, in the context of the rapidly aging population in Vietnam.
