Opportunities from new planning

The planning of Dak Nong province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, is of great significance to the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the province.

The planning aims to maximize the potential and strengths of Dak Nong, while ensuring harmony between socio-economic development and environmental protection.

According to the plan, by 2030, Dak Nong strives to become a fairly developed province in the Central Highlands, with a synchronously invested infrastructure system, becoming an important gateway connecting trade between the Central Highlands and the Southeast.

Dak Nong's development model is organized in the form of "1 center - 3 growth drivers - 4 economic corridors - 4 development sub-regions".

Gia Nghia City will be the political, administrative, economic, cultural, scientific and technological center of the province. At the same time, Gia Nghia is the core urban area of ​​the Southern Central Highlands sub-region.

The three growth drivers will include: the central driver from the Dak R'lap - Gia Nghia - Quang Khe urban chain; the northern driver from Ea T'ling urban area, Cu Jut district and Dak Mam, Krong No district; the northwestern driver along the border economic corridor with the core being Dak Mil and Duc An urban areas, Dak Song district.

The plan also identifies three development breakthroughs: industry, agriculture and tourism. In the industrial sector, the province will invest in Dak Nong Alumina Plant complexes 2, 3, 4, 5, combined with bauxite mining clusters, developing a green and circular economy.

Renewable energy projects will also be prioritized, along with completing infrastructure for seven planned industrial parks and 11 industrial clusters.

For agriculture, the province determines to develop agricultural economy associated with preservation and processing industry to increase product value.

The goal is to form 25 high-tech agricultural zones, along with 19 concentrated livestock farming zones. High-tech agricultural deep processing projects will be given priority for investment.

In the tourism sector, Dak Nong aims to develop 4 key tourism clusters. Of which, Ta Dung Lake tourist area will be invested to become a national tourist area.

Potential tourism projects and destinations will also attract investment, such as Quang Khe and Lieng Nung tourism complexes and other eco-tourism complexes.

Expectations of breakthrough with highway

The Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh Expressway Project (Binh Phuoc) is approximately 128.8 km long; with a total investment of VND 25,540 billion. The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and put into operation in 2027.

This is a key project connecting the Central Highlands with the Southeast region, contributing to creating new space and development momentum for the whole region.

Dak Nong is also proposing to competent authorities to approve investment in projects such as: the North-South Expressway in the West, Buon Ma Thuot - Gia Nghia section; renovating and upgrading National Highway 14C, National Highway 28 and building the Dak Nong - Chon Thanh railway.

Currently, more than 90% of the province's agricultural products are exported through ports in Ho Chi Minh City. Improving transport infrastructure will create favorable conditions, attract investment and create a breakthrough for the socio-economic development of Dak Nong, while ensuring national security and defense in the region.
